Meeting Andy Sarkany today was a true honor. Andy dedicates his time to educating young people across the country about the Holocaust. As a young survivor, he is a valuable source of firsthand information, especially considering that many older survivors have unfortunately passed away. It is crucial that we seize the opportunity to learn from individuals like Andy who can still share their powerful stories with us. Endre (Andy) Sarkany was born in Budapest, Hungary on October 31, 1936. The building he lived in was located inside the Budapest ghetto which is where he remained during the Holocaust. The building housed a nursery/kindergarten on the ground floor. The school was affiliated with the Jewish Agency of Hungary and was led by Mr. Eugene Polnay. The building also housed on the top floor a dance, acrobat, and ballet studio. These facts were significant in Endre's survival and that of at least 150 orphaned children. Endre's father was taken to Mauthausen concentration camp in the spring of 1944, fortunately, he survived. After WWII, Hungary became a communist nation. Although Endre graduated high school in 1955, he was not accepted to university because he was deemed an undesirable element of society. This label was given to anyone who owned a business before the communists took over the country. Endre was fortunate to escape Hungary after the October 1956 uprising and was able to immigrate to the United States.  He received his bachelor's degree from Tusculum College in Tennessee and his Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.  Endre worked for both the McDonald Douglas Corporation and the IBM Corporation. Over the past 10 years, Endre has been speaking to students about his personal experiences during the Holocaust, living under the brutality of the Soviet regime in Hungary, and finding a home in the United States. Andy is married, has a daughter and son, and five grandchildren.

It seems today, the entire world is experiencing supply chain challenges in nearly all product categories. In the electronic assembly industry, the focus has been within the semiconductor market, especially in North America. Why is this? How did the US allow this to occur? Was it short sightedness, greed, an over-reliance on foreign suppliers, other factors, or a combination of all these factors? What would it take to finally address this issue and are we doing anything about it? My guest today is Matt Kelly, Chief Technologist at IPC, one of our leading industry trade organizations. IPC recently published a report on the chip shortage and, perhaps most importantly, came up with a list of 28 recommendations our industry can consider to remedy this issue. As I stated, Matt Kelly is Chief Technologist at IPC and is focused on driving next generation technology advancements and supply chain transformation across the electronics industry. He works within the association's executive leadership team to identify and develop new strategic initiatives, meeting member and industry needs. He delivers influential thought leadership, research, and advocacy to industry and governments. He leads IPC's Chief Technology Council to continually drive the electronics industry forward. His focus areas include Industry 4.0 – Factory of the Future digitization, modernization, adoption, and implementation; IPC expansion into new advanced packaging technologies including IC-substrates and OSAT manufacturing; and next generation electronic systems design methods. When I first met Matt he was with IBM. Matt comes to IPC following a 15-year career at IBM Corporation, holding several senior technology and engineering leadership positions within IBM Systems Division. His technical contributions include 25 patents, 85 publications, and numerous industry awards. Matt is a licensed Professional Engineer with a degree in Chemical Engineering from McMaster University and holds an MBA in Strategic Management from Sir Wilfrid Laurier University. We created the firm because we believe we have a unique perspective on what it takes to do this well, one that combines the best in strategic and organizational thinking with an ability to apply it with real people working in businesses around the globe. Our foundational experiences were at IBM, working to build the Emerging Business Opportunity program from 2000-2008 and the IBM Strategic Leadership Forum, an innovative approach to agile strategy formulation. At its core was the Business Leadership Framework (also known as Congruence Model). The firm has grown since its founding, adding Principals?Christine Griffin and Kristin von Donop in 2012. Joining the podcast today is Andy Binns, co-author of the book Corporate Explorer. This book and Andy's perspective goes against much of what we have learned as the right way to retain talent. What Andy brings to the table today is how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset to large corporate organizations. In his experience, large organizations are great to incubate and nurture this entrepreneurial attitude and skill set. Why is this important and why aren't more organizations implementing this? In addition, Andy and I discuss the challenges this current generation of talent is experiencing and what organizations can do to manage constant change. Developing an environment to retain people longer is different than it used to be and in this episode, you'll discover that it is entirely different than you might think. This topic is very timely in the current climate that we are in and I know you will find great value in Andy's perspective. His book Corporate Explorer is highly recommended. Today's episode marks the four-year anniversary of the Science History Podcast, where we have explored all manner of science and relevant policy spanning from gravitational waves to bioterrorism. So it is fitting that today's guest, Dick Garwin, has worked on just about every major scientific and technology problem with a defense application since just after the Second World War, ranging from the first thermonuclear weapon in 1951 all the way to the U.S. response to pandemics. Today we discuss it all, including space nuclear detonations and electromagnetic pulses, spy satellites, anti-submarine warfare, sequential memory for computers, magnetic resonance imaging, laser printers, touch-screen monitors, nuclear weapons testing, nuclear reactor accidents, Ebola, the Iraq War, the BP Deep Water Horizon oil spill, and even gravitational waves. Dick was born in Ohio in 1928. He received a BS in physics from Case Institute of Technology in 1947 at the age of 19, and then a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Chicago in 1949, at the age of 21. Two years later, in 1951, for a summer project at Los Alamos, he designed the first hydrogen bomb. Dick joined the IBM Corporation in 1952, where for over 40 years he helped to design diverse technology with military applications. He also held numerous posts in universities and at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, in addition to advising presidents on science and technology, from Eisenhower to Kennedy to Johnson to Nixon. He also served on various technical committees for subsequent American administrations, all the way through to the Obama presidency. Dick has published over 500 papers and been granted 47 U.S. patents. He also coauthored many books, including Nuclear Weapons and World Politics (1977), Nuclear Power Issues and Choices (1977), Energy: the Next Twenty Years (1979), Science Advice to the President (1980), Managing the Plutonium Surplus: Applications and Technical Options (1994), and Megawatts and Megatons: A Turning Point in the Nuclear Age? (2001). Dick is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the National Academy of Medicine. Dick received too many awards to list them all here, but they include the 2003 National Medal of Science, awarded by President George W. Bush, and the 2016 Presidential Medal of Freedom, awarded by President Barack Obama. In sum, he is a treasure of 20th Century American science, and I hope you enjoy this opportunity to hear his thoughts as we tour the last 70 years of science, technology and policy.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR WILLIAM DUNLAP is an artist, writer, arts advocate and commentator with a career spanning more than four decades. His paintings, sculpture, drawings and constructions are included in public and private collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Gallery of Art, Mississippi Museum of Art, Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Lauren Rogers Museum, Mobil Corporation, Riggs Bank, IBM Corporation, Federal Express, The Equitable Collection, Arkansas Art Center, the United States State Department, the U. S. Federal Reserve, and United States Embassies throughout the world. He is the author of SHORT MEAN FICTION: Words and Pictures, a collection of short stories with drawings, Nautilus Publishing, 2016, as well as LYING AND MAKING A LIVING.  ABOUT THE BOOKS - SHORT MEAN FICTION Like tales from the Old Testament, these stories are mean, rampant with sex, violence, and death. All are figments of an active, if not fertile, imagination, and brevity may be their greatest charm. They are fictions through and through. The drawings scattered throughout this volume are not illustrations, but live in the same place the sketchbooks where Dunlap first wrote the stories, forgot them, then found them again. LYING AND MAKING A LIVING Lying and Making a Living picks up where Short Mean Fiction leaves off. It contains more of the irreverent, hard-hitting, exhilarating, ironic, and emblematic prose we've come to expect from Dunlap, whose language is something of a Southern birthright and whose characters are defined by their notorious deeds..

Oftentimes people fear that the new way of doing things will actually complicate things or even take longer than doing things “the way we've always done them”. And leaders are met with resentment. The best way to get buy-in? Have strong relationships with people. Are you implementing a new idea without doing the research to see if it's a true help and not a hindrance? In our conversation, we dig into Bob's professional journey, his passion for teaching, and insight into what differentiates between a good and great leader. What is Intelligent Disobedience Leadership? According to Bob, author of Intelligent Disobedience: The Difference between Good and Great Leaders, it's knowing when and how to break, bend or invent new rules to get better outcomes. Obeying all of the rules rarely generates breakthrough business performance because it does not generate new approaches. Breaking the rules randomly does not work either. Intelligent disobedience values improved business performance over compliance with the rules, when conditions permit. This book promotes enhanced performance by promoting a higher form of ethics. Intelligent disobedience seeks to surface hidden truth and to produce actions that are of higher integrity to yield superior results. The book guides the reader to evaluate their work environment, current business results, and risk, to determine if, when, and how acting with intelligent disobedience can enhance their business outcomes and their career. Abstract: Abstract Background: Hypertension is a silent killer that requires long term management to avoid complications. It is one of major public health problem in developing counties like Ethiopia. Hypertension increases the risk of morbidity and mortality and has negative consequences on the cognitive and physical fitness of productivity in adults. Objective: To assess fasting blood glucose, serum electrolyte, albumin, creatinine, urea, and lipid profile among hypertensive patients and non-hypertensive participants at wolaita sodo teaching and referral hospital. Methods: A comparative cross-sectional study was conducted from December 2019 to February 2020. On the study a total of 156 study participants (78 cases and 78 controls) were involved. Each study participant, after signing informed consent, interviewed about the socio-demographic and anthropometric characteristic features. Then 5ml of the blood sample was collected from each 78 patients with hypertension and each 78 samples from apparently healthy subjects from WSUTRH during the period. Fasting blood glucose, serum electrolyte, albumin, creatinine, urea, and lipid profile level were measured in each group. The Data were analyzed by using Epi data version 3.1 and SPSS version 21.0 software (IBM Corporation, USA) and results were summarized using means and percentages and presented by using figures and tables. P-value < 0.05 was considered to be significant at 95% confidence level. Any abnormal laboratory results of study subjects dispatched and communicated with physicians for better management. Results: The mean age of hypertensives and control study groups were 50 {+/-} 10.0 and 51 {+/-} 11.3 years respectively. The body mass index of hypertensives and control study groups were 53.4% and 34.2% overweighed respectively. The mean {+/-} SD of fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, LDL-C, TG, RFT were significantly increases while serum sodium, calcium, albumin, and HDL- Cholesterol significantly decreased in hypertensives when compared with non-hypertensives and serum potassium was no statistical significance among case and control groups. Conclusion: In present study, we observed that the hypertensive group was at risk for developing biochemical alteration in creatinine, urea, fasting blood glucose, lipid profile, electrolytes, and albumin test parameters with an increased period of time. Recommendation: Regular measurements of biochemical parameters strongly needed for hypertensive patients. Copy rights belong to original authors. Visit the link for more info

Airing date: 08/018/2018 Two Factor Authentication. Security and Highlights from Defcon Conference Craig Peterson: [00:00:00] Hi, there everybody, Craig Peterson here, and as usual I've got a ton to talk about. We've got a special report about America's greatest threat. They're calling it a hurricane for cyber attacks. We've got an interesting hacker out there, who has allegedly stolen millions of dollars by hijacking phone numbers and in turn asking kids parents to send some money. Isn't that something. Another trick here. Your Voicemail. Did you know that hackers are seizing practically all online accounts just using your voicemail? We'll tell you how some practical security here for the prudent American, great little article that came out in medium, we'll be talking a little bit about that. Everything you want to know about VPN's but didn't want to ask. In fact, I had a request from one of our listeners this week about the VPN stuff because he's heading out of the country. I love this new Alexa skill, I've been playing a lot with my Alexa. You know about the timers, that people have been using for years to make their lights go on and off while they're out of the house. Well, listen to what you can do with your Alexa. And three trends that hackers, a Black Hat and DEFCON are watching. Did you know that just happened to hear about a week ago? So here we go. Of course, you're listening to Craig Peterson, right. So, we're playing around with some different things, let me know what you think? We've got some different bumper music and beds and things, and you'll hear some of the same stuff we've always been using, as well today. But, you know it's been years since we changed any of that stuff so, we'll just let it go for now, OK. So, our special report, to start things off here today.  [00:01:51] We know about the security vulnerabilities, we've seen the vulnerabilities, we know what's up, and many of us have been hacked, right. Have you been hacked? You may not even know it. But almost every computer that's online that's running Windows has been hacked. If you've been online for more than a year. Well, what is ahead when we go forward? What are we looking at here? I did a really interesting interview this week for the FBI for their Infraguard program. It's with a company called Black Ops partners, and you might want to look them up. They've got just a ton of cool information. It's headed by the guy who started IBM Corporation's whole security division, which is really kind of neat here. He's won the cybersecurity excellence award, and everything else. So, he and I were talking about cybersecurity 3.0 and where's it going. What should we be doing? And, you know it's really interesting when we get right down to it. But, the bad guys are out there. They are coming after us, and they're coming after us in a big way. We've known that right. We've we know the Russians are coming after us. We know the Chinese, in fact, this customer I just picked up. We've been cleaning things up, and just yesterday we installed a brand new Next-Generation Firewall filter and Security Operations Center support for him.  [00:03:19] And, this is just a small family-owned company. But, he had been compromised. They were able to get past his firewall, he had a great firewall. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've heard that story before, and the bad guys got past it and got into his accounting system, found all of his clients, and managed to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars. It's just crazy what happened. He ended up going over to China. To try and find out. So, can we get our money back because the money got transferred over to China? Tens of thousands of dollars later and, of course, now there's lawsuits and legal fees involved and it's pretty crippling. So, that's not surprising, right. It's just like President Trump going out and saying something crazy on Twitter, right. We're used to hearing that new thing that he says out there, but it is not going to change our opinion about President Trump, right. If you had a pro-opinion, you have one after if you had an anti-opinion, you have the same one after, right. That's not going to change things. What changes things is a surprise. What changes things is wow, that's just not what I would expect. And if you had another President in there that didn't normally do the types of things President Trump does, you would be surprised maybe your opinion would change when he did something on Twitter that just shocks everybody in the whole nation or the whole world,  [00:04:48] right. You kind of get used to it. Well, here's the big picture. The bad guys aren't just going after your money. They're not just trying to get at your clients, and not just trying to get that information. It turns out that the bad guys include nation-state actors. It's not just some kids in the basement somewhere over in Ukraine that is trying to hack in now. And, we're talking about the risk here of a crippling cyber attack. The Homeland Security secretary, Kirsten Nielson said just this last week, that the U.S. is in crisis mode comparing the dangers of a massive attack to a Category 5 hurricane looming on the horizon. You heard that right. Category 5 hurricane, and there is no graver threat to the United States. An interesting article that I posted up on my Web site by Axios. You can find it there. They've got some quotes from General David Petraeus. He's the former CIA director, and he's quoted as saying, what worries me most is a cyber equivalent of a weapon of mass destruction falling into the hands of extremists who would needless to say be very difficult to deter because of their willingness to blow themselves up on the battlefield and take us with them. Leon Panetta, of course, who was President Obama's former CIA director.  [00:06:20] Quotes and On and on and on. But, the bottom line here is we not only have to protect our businesses from these bad guys that we're familiar with, that have been out there for a very long time, but in fact, we've got to protect our businesses from the nation-state actors, as well. Now, I know the FBI has been working closely with businesses to try and secure our infrastructure and headway is being made there. But, it's shocking to me more and more as I get into it, how many hospitals, clinics, doctors offices, small banks, et cetera don't have what's needed. And, they are part of the critical infrastructure. So, again looking into the FBI Infragard, if you're involved with one of these businesses and see if you can't join up if you can pass the Infragard background check and start getting some of this information firsthand that I'm providing and other people are providing to the Infragard members. It is so critically important. And if you're a regular business guy is, I'm just a business regular guy, What do people care? Think about losing everything. Think about your retirement caught up in the business. What's going to happen if that's all stolen from you? And that's what's going to happen, by the way, it's guaranteed. It's going to happen. It's happening every day. And you've got to reconsider your whole security infrastructure.  [00:07:55] You've got to work with the company that knows what they're doing, and just a funny note here. I've got to add this in. I got an e-mail this week that came from a mailing list that I'm on, and they were promoting this two thousand dollar course, become a managed security services provider in six weeks. And, you know I have to chuckle because people have a hard time differentiating, right now. How would you differentiate between my company, Mainstream, and one of these guys that six weeks later puts up a shingle, saying yeah I'm a security services provider, right? And I started adding up the hours. And this is the part that really shocked me. Of course, it helps to be a little bit older and having done this for a long time. I have more than 100,000 hours in the I.T. business doing network related stuff including security. Personally, me personally. This isn't our company has a combined 20 years. Me personally, 100,000 hours and I have I just laughed when I saw this. Are you kidding me? People are going to be out there peddling themselves as security providers when all they have is a couple of certifications under their belt and a six-week course. Oh, man anyhow, so now let's go over to our next topic here.  [00:09:33] Well, we kind of started out by talking about hackers and what they're doing. We've got a new problem up there, pretty darn big problem. frankly, and this is a phone hijacking now.  [00:09:45] You know I've told you before that these two-factor authentication schemes that are using your phone where they send you a text are not terribly secure, right. In fact, they're not secure at all. Well, this is something that's just a little bit different. We've got an article here from Motherboard, talking about California authorities who are saying, that a 20-year-old college student has hijacked more than 40 phone numbers and stolen five million dollars, including some from cryptocurrency investors. Wow. OK, wow is all I have to say here. Here's what's happening this guy Joel Ortiz, he's a 20 year old from Boston. He's alleged to have hacked these victims, using some accomplices who are unnamed, at least as of yet. And, this is the first reported case against someone who's allegedly used a technique known as Sim swapping. So, in Sim swapping so, you know you get a phone, you have an unlocked phone you have a sim that Sim has your contacts and other stuff on it. And, that sim also was used to authorize you to the cellular network. So, now that's what you use to identify your phone, right. So, when someone calls your number it uses the sim, to identify you. That's how that all works. With sim hijacking what happens is they basically steal your sim. Now, they don't even have to have access to your sim. All, they have to do is trick your provider. You know like AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and whatever trick your provider into transferring the target's phone number to a SIM card that's controlled by the bad guy. So, once they get that phone number and there's ways to do this, this is really, well documented where they will call up and pretend they're your wife, or your husband or even you. [00:11:52] And, so many of us are posting information online that makes it possible for them to be able to very easily impersonate you. So they know your wife's name your kid's names your dog's names where you work where you were born where you graduate from college. So, they can pass the so-called anti-fraud stuff when they call up the provider. So, once they get your phone number the bad guys are using it now to reset your passwords and break into your online accounts. Because remember I was saying that using a text message is not true two-factor authentication. In some cases even working, if you do have a separate type of two-factor authentication. And, its called a port-out scam. It's relatively easy to pull off, it's become widespread and that is where they say, yeah I am transferring my phone number from T-Mobile to Verizon, just as an example, right. And, you arrange for that. You're transferring your phone number and when you do that, you have to have a new sim. In many cases you have to, in this case, you'd have to have a Verizon type sim. And, obviously, you'd have to be working on the frequencies Verizon uses et cetera but easy enough to pull off. So, this guy Ortiz was arrested at the L.A. International Airport was on his way to Europe. He apparently had a Gucci bag that was part of a recent spending spree that, of course, they seized because they're alleging that it was financed by some of these scams. He's facing 28 charges, 13 counts of identity theft, 13 counts of hacking, and two counts of grand theft, according to a complaint that was filed. They're going after some of his co-conspirators apparently they have access to millions of dollars in cryptocurrency.  [00:13:50] And the interesting quote in here, that I'm not going to quote because it is full of all kinds of nasty stuff. OK. So it's interesting. Think about that. There's a sim swapping community that's out there on the dark web, where people are swapping the information back and forth. At least three of the attacks that happened, he stole more than a half million from a cryptocurrency entrepreneur including a million he'd crowdfunded and an initial coin offering. And, you know I am absolutely against putting money into these things. I don't look at them as an investment. I look at them as highly, risky. It goes on and on. So, bottom line DO NOT tie it to your phone, into authentication for any of these Web sites. Use some of these some of these apps that are out there like Duo or Google authenticator, if you want to learn more about it let me know I'd be glad to put together a special little free mini-course on it, as to how to do all of that. But, that's what we do. We go even further. We not only use those types of apps, we have physical keys that we have to use in order to get on to certain Web sites. In fact, we're expert witnesses right now in a case involving a managed services provider, that they obviously they didn't go to the six week course or they would have known better, who messed up, and wow, major stuff, can't really talk about the case, but similar type of thing that happened with this other client, that we were talking about that we just picked up. It's happening every day. Now, you've got to pull up your socks and pay attention. All right. So, let's get on to the voicemail and how that ties into all of this as well.  [00:15:46] Well, remember I was just saying that if you use your phone for authentication, where they send you a text message to make sure you, because you're logging into a new browser or you're logging in from a place that they're not familiar with, right. So, they'll send you a text message and then you enter that code in. Well, the same type of problem exists with your voicemail. Your Google, your Microsoft, Apple, WhatsApp, signal account, they all have an Achilles heel. Now, Signal is interesting because it is designed to keep things secure. WhatsApp is supposed to keep things secure, not as secure as Signal does. But, here is the weakness, and that weakness was disclosed this last week again in Vegas. In case you weren't aware of it, there was the Black Hat conference. And at that people were talking about different ways to hack, new things they found, Defcon as part of that, right. One right after the other, these two conferences out there in Vegas. So, this particular one was by Martin Vigo. He was over at the Defcon convention, and he explained how he managed to reset passwords for a whole bunch of different types of online accounts. So, he took advantage of the weakest link in the security chain which is. believe it or not, your voicemail.  [00:17:17] So, what he did was he requested a password reset on some of these services, like WhatsApp, because you have the option of requesting you receive a call with the reset code. So, that's more than just receiving a text, it's actually a phone call. So, people think OK, well that's safe right. [00:17:40] Well, no it's even worse than getting a text message because all he had to do was hack the voicemail account first.  [00:17:49] How does he do that? Well, he just wrote a little script that just brute force attacked the passwords. All right. Most people are using a four-digit password. And most of the voicemail systems don't have incremental backoffs, where they time out. You know where you get it wrong the first time you have to wait five seconds, you can try again, if you get it wrong three times you have to wait five minutes. Yet are wrong again. You might have to wait an hour etc.. No, no. They just let you hack, hack, hack, hack, hack, hack, hack. And, in fact, he did get access to the account's password reset codes. And, ultimately he got control of the account itself because they sent a reset code via voicemail called up your reset code as 1 2 3 4, and he had previously hacked that voicemail account, and many people it's easy to find. I was on again research for this case, where we are acting as a consultant to the law firm and we may end up on the stand, as an expert witness. But in that type of a situation, all that has to happen is you go to the website, you can find that person's password, you can be again password reset information by just finding what is their phone number. Because people are posting their personal cell phone numbers on websites, or they're posting their business work number on the website. Then I get it right. You  [00:19:22] Want people to be able to contact you. But in this case, he got into all of these accounts and he was able to reset them because he got the password via voicemail reset.  [00:19:32] Oh man, some of the stuff just never ends does it? All right. So let's talk a little bit about practical security. Got a lot of kids going back to school.  [00:19:47] You've got college kids, of course, going back to school. We just had a client bring in a hard disk that was being used for backup. You know one of those pluggable USB drives and guess what it had failed and apparently, their daughter's dissertation was there on that hard drive. And so we took it apart, the case and everything and it looks like it's actually a problem with a hard disk itself might be the voice call. You can hear clicking. So, hopefully, that's what it is it's only going to cost about five thousand dollars to get that a hard disk fixed. We're going to send it out to a lab. We don't actually do that in-house right. Let the experts deal with it. So, guess what doctoral dissertation. Because the machine went south and the backup wasn't working. We hear that all the time. It's incredible. That's why you have multiple layers of backup as well not just one backup. Because in this case her machine failed and she didn't realize her backup wasn't working. Oh man. Anyhow it's really distressing when that happens to you. We've got kids now that are starting to get involved with politics for the 2018 election cycle, the same thing is going to be true with the 2020 cycle. We've got of course harassment hate campaigns. There's doxing going on. Russian hackers going on, and these same people that have been involved in trying to disrupt our elections, are going to be busy again this year and in 2020.  [00:21:24] So, anyone who touches sensitive confidential documents, financial records, voter data, you have to protect yourselves. And you might not have thought about that when it comes to these kids, that are working as volunteers may be in election offices that are out there, right. Their favorite candidate left, or right, or center, whatever they might be.  [00:21:47] There is a ton of bad advice out there because most of the security folklore that's out there in the I.T. industry really is wrong. It can be even dangerously incorrect. The security world five years ago, today, It's not the same thing, right. So, there are a few things you have to do. I've got a special report. You can no longer get it on my Web site. But it's all about passwords, PASSWORD managers. I give some reviews in there we have some links to using them if you want to find out about password managers e-mail me or just send me a text 8 5 5 3 8 5 55 53, send me a text asking for it. I'll send you the PDF.  [00:22:33] I think it's like five or six pages, it's pretty detailed pretty in-depth, I'll send to you. It's something I use with my clients. But, you can you can get that from me. But number one user password manager again if you missed it 8 5 5 3 8 5 fifty-five fifty-three. So, anyhow you've got to generate passwords. Get a security key, a Yubi key is probably one of the better ones out there. But, be careful of using the security keys make sure you know what you're doing because you could break your computer completely if you lose the key. OK. It's kind of crazy but you know Yubi key is out there. There's a lot of other things there. Chrome browser has some really good extensions. HTTPS Everywhere is a good extension to use it. You can enroll Google's advanced program protection and a good article and Medium that I have put my Web site Craig Peterson dot com. You can go there and read up a little bit more. Well only got a few minutes left so, let's kind of whip through these last few things for this week again you will find all of this and more in the newsletter. Now, we sent out the newsletter on Thursday this week as opposed to Saturday morning.  [00:23:51] We want to see if that's a little better if you guys pick it up that way. I think a lot of people are subscribed to their work e-mail address, which means you might not notice it when you come in on Monday morning. So, if you check your e-mail you'll see it's from me at Craig Peterson dot com. All of these articles with direct links to them so you can find out more. We also have special offers, from time to time, like a couple of months ago we offered that password special report, as well. But a VPN is very important. We use them all the time. We have our own VPN. And, the whole idea behind it is you have a tunnel, hopefully, a secure tunnel. Be careful where you are going, when it comes to VPNs. Geo-blocking is a good thing to get around with a VPN, but as I mentioned at the beginning of the show I have a client that is heading over to Europe and he was asking about VPNs and what he might want to do what he should do. So, I got good advice on that as well. I know I can send you more information. There's a cool new Alexa's skill.  [00:25:02] Is really really neat. It's plain these fake stupid arguments to make people burglars think that you're at home. [00:25:10] Ok, so one of them is an emergency PTA meeting to discuss Memes, fidget spinner's, and other teen fads. There's another one where couples having a breakup while also trying to watch TV. Another one-two average guys brainstorm what's unique about themselves so, they can start a podcast about that. Oh man. There's another one that they can play where they have conversations from a book club, where no one discusses the book. A mom walking her daughter through Ikea assembly over the phone, a stay at home mom losing her mind, and an argument over a board game. Very cool you can. You can find those for Alexa. Great article in Slashdot. You'll find it on my Web site and cool for burglars keep them out of your home. Three trends that the hackers a black hat and DefCon were talking about and what they're watching. Mobile devices have moved up the list. The Internet of valuable things, IoT has become very, very big deal. I should do some special stuff on some of this for people and audio hacking. It is now a thing. So, you can find all of this and more details. CRAIG Peterson dot com check your e-mail if you're on my list. Also, I've been trying to send it out via a massive few are on my text list, a link I send out to everybody with this week's articles but you'll find all of this. Craig Peterson dot com, any questions any requests. Just text me. I've been answering people all week long and fact to getting more and more every week 8 5 5 3 8 5 55 fifty-three and I'll send you I'll put on my text list and let you know about current events what's happening and little reminders about the show and stop 8 5 5 3 8 5 55 53. Have a great week and we'll be back again next week and I'll be sure to let you know if anything big is hitting the fan during the week. Take care. The powerful earthquake that struck Nepal on 25 April could be just the first of a series of quakes to hit the region in coming weeks. Future tremors could add to the current death toll of more than 4,800 people and make it harder for aid agencies to deliver help where it’s needed. While NGOs are saving lives on the ground, freeing people trapped under the rubble and building emergency shelters, we learn how a team of mappers in the United Kingdom teamed up with the organisation Kathmandu Living Labs to build a real-time map of the affected areas. Their work could allow humanitarian staff to deliver aid faster and more effectively, particularly if there are further tremors. In this month’s podcast, we also discover how a new device that filters the blood of people with malaria may strengthen efforts to fight drug-resistant forms of the disease. The device, which works like a kidney dialysis machine, uses the magnetic properties of the infected cells to capture them and remove them from the blood. We then talk with Melissa Leach, director of the Institute of Development Studies in the United Kingdom, about how social and cultural factors must be considered if more-resilient healthcare systems are to be built in Ebola-stricken countries On the issue of public health, we speak with Martin Sepulveda from the research division of the IBM Corporation, United States, about a new index to measure fairness in research. http://www.scidev.net/global/disasters/multimedia/May-podcast-mapping-nepal-post-quake.html

His name was Derrion Albert, and I am dedicating this podcast / teaching to Derrion and his family. FIRST, let me say to you that I have the answer to gang violence. Let me give you a few examples: Gene Browning was a Black Muslim who hated whites. He was an all state football tackle. On Saturdays Gene would go to the park with his Doberman Pinscher dog and wait until a white person would come by with their dog. Then Gene would turn his Doberman loose on them. Hungry for the truth, Gene turned his life over to the REAL Jesus (not the Muslim Jesus) and became a dynamic Christian leader working with university students. Later he started ministry in government circles and prisons (is there any difference in the two anymore) as a Bible teacher and as a commodities broker in Washington, D.C. Gene and his wife, Shirley, gave me a beautiful automobile as a gift of love (even though I'm white!). That's REAL redistributive wealth! Tom Skinner grew up in Harlem, and influenced by the Black Nationalists, a Black supremacy group. He became leader of the Harlem Lords gang in New York City and led the gang in more than fifteen large-scale gang fights, and they never lost, even though there were only 130 in the gang. Tom was preparing strategy one night for what was to be the largest gang fight ever to take place in New York City. (Five gangs were uniting together to fight a bunch of gangs from the other side of the city. If he succeeded in leading the gang bangers to victory in this fight, he would emerge as the leader of this alliance of Harlem gangs - the most powerful teenage gang leader in the city.) Tom heard a preacher unexpectedly while listening to a DJ on the radio; as a result he decided to put Jesus' claims to a test. He was confronted with the REVOLUTIONARY TRUTH and gave his life to the REAL REVOLUTIONARY: Jesus (the Messiah of Israel). He quit the Harlem Lords and later started evangelistic meetings in his own turf, Harlem, at such places as the Apollo Theater. The Lord groomed Tom so that he had opportunities to speak to - and influence - countless individuals, groups, and organizations, ranging from members of Congress to the New York Yankees to officials at IBM Corporation. He also served as chaplain for the Washington Redskins. Some of Tom's publications are: Black and Free (1968), Words of Revolution (1970), How Black is the Gospel (1970), If Christ is the Answer, What are the Questions? (1974) The Crips Gang in Los Angeles used to have several of their members who came to my Bible studies on Friday nights. Many were touched and changed by the POWER of the Holy Spirit. Clayton Joyner, an African-American, was my best friend. We used to preach together to the Black Panthers and the Black Muslims and the gangs in downtown Los Angeles. Clayton was black and I was white (still am). Blacks and Whites and Hispanics and Asians finally got used to Clayton and I hugging each other and praising God in the open air. When he would buy a new suit or sport coat he would buy me one (I didn't have any money). Finally, years later I was able to give him an automobile. That's REAL redistributive wealth! Bob Selby was a friend of mine who was a gun runner and weapons stockpiler for the Weather Underground (close associates to the Obama Whitehouse). Bob was reading literature while in jail that showed him that there was a real Hell and that God loved us and sent His own Son, Messiah Yeshua, as the sacrifice for our sins. Bob prayed and gave his life to Christ in that jail. He then went to the Sheriff and took him to where this cache of munitions and guns were stored. I later had the privilege to speak in “standing room only” crowds for Bob telling young people about the REAL revolutionary: Jesus, the Messiah of Israel. These examples I have just given prove that there IS an answer to gang warfare and inner city violence … and anarchy. MUSIC SECOND, let me say to you that the government will NOT do anything about it except fund programs and allow photo-ops like the one last week in Chicago with Attorney General Eric Holder (who wouldn't even go visit ground zero; he was safely in the swank Four Seasons Hotel off Michigan Avenue while meeting with “community leaders”). If Obama had enough interest in his own home town as he did in flying to Copenhagen, he would be a man and go talk to the gang bangers in Chicago … at least reach out to them. He would do something about it. (After all, it's a shorter flight to Chicago than Copenhagen … or does commercialism outweigh needy children? What happened to PURE socialism?) I noticed Obama's pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, wasn't active in reaching out to the gang bangers … nor was Obama's associate (for helping the oppressed) in his neighborhood, William Ayers. However, it is obvious the President is only interested in programs that can advance his socialist agenda. Like Marx and Engels, it appears that Obama is NOT really interested in the people - even needy children in his hometown - except as a tool of the collective for promoting his own socialist programs. Before you judge me for my statements, let me say that I love the President. I pray for him ad his wife, Michelle, and their daughters, Malia and Sasha, every day. (How often do you pray for them?) If you love someone you will speak the TRUTH. THE ANSWER While in prayer during the writing of this message, I had a vision. The vision was of a dry, extremely parched, land. It was so parched that there were deep cracks throughout the land where the dry ground had separated due to lack of moisture. The deep cracks were consistently spaced every foot (30 centimeters) or so apart, with smaller cracks between them. It was truly a “dry barren land.” However, in the middle of the land there was a fresh bright stalk of corn with ears ready to open and leaves luxuriantly bright from perfect nourishment. Then, from the stalk of corn there began to come forth not only its own fruit (other ears of corn) but ALSO moisture which watered the dry parched ground ... and then, to my amazement, other stalks of corn began to rise up from the ground and to grow and flourish. Then God spoke to me: “This is a picture of the future of many people [who will listen to this podcast]. Many are productive now ... but nothing compared to what will be happening through them in the future. On the other hand, many have given up; they once had a vision that I gave them for their ministry. Some of them have seen others fulfilling what they once prayed and fasted about doing, seeking my face for the fulfillment of the same. But the enemy of mankind and of all righteousness has discouraged them. He has spent years planning attacks against them, even using those who at one time were their friends, companions, or fellow ministers. Some of them have fallen due to sin, disobedience, misunderstanding, and attacks due to jealousy of enemies; and, some of the enemies have been My people. But I am about to rearrange the lives of the faithful ones: the ones who have persevered. They are going to be like the fresh bright stalks of corn with ears ready to open and leaves luxuriantly bright from perfect nourishment. I have seen their discouragement and disappointment. I have seen the attacks of the enemy, even the attacks of My people against them. And just as Joseph’s brothers meant it for evil, I MEANT IT FOR GOOD THAT I MIGHT SAVE MANY PEOPLE spiritually, mentally, and physically. I am about to deliver many people - masses of people, hundreds of millions of people - from among the nations, tribes, and families of the earth. Tell My people there is hope, to seek my face again, and to START NOW. I will use them GREATLY and in ways they have not expected.” That is the vision and the message the Lord gave me. Now ... if that applies to you, where do you go from here? 1. START NOW It doesn’t matter if your ministry is one of the five-fold gifts to the church as apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, or teacher ... or whether you have the ministry of helps ... or whether you are involved in a labor of love that is hidden from the eyes of many. You are to START NOW believing God for the anointing upon the work you are doing to bring torrential rains of the Spirit upon mankind. And PRAY that it is multiplied around the world. Get SERIOUS about yourself, your ministry, and your influence! MUSIC “Behold, the former things are coming to pass, and NEW things do I declare: before they spring forth I will tell you of them.” [Isaiah 42:9] The Hebrew word “chadash” for “new” here means exactly that: “new, fresh, a new thing.” The God of Israel doesn’t deal in stale commodities; He is the Creator. He is going to create NEW works through you ... and He will get ALL the glory. You and everyone around you will know it’s not you. The Holy Spirit is God’s agent on Planet Earth to supply the resurrection power of Messiah Yesua. START NOW asking God what you can do to be a “nesting place” for the Holy Dove. If nothing comes to mind right away, then start with humility! 2. FIGHT If God is telling you to start now, that means He is going to help you and nobody can successfully withstand you. “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” [Romans 8:31] The Greek word “kata” here for “against” denotes opposition, distribution, or intensity. Many times the devil will distribute evil agents to oppose you, with the goal of destroying you and thereby nullifying the work of God through you. Sometimes these agents will attack you from different sources and avenues simultaneously. Since the NEW work which God will be doing through you is GREATER than anything you have been involved with in the past, the opposition is [super]naturally going to be greater. This verse in Romans 8:31 is literally telling you in the original language in which it was written that God regards YOU as the very chiefest ... very highly ... and for YOUR SAKE He is FOR YOU! If you’re experiencing weariness then cast it away in Jesus’ name. It is no more than an attack of Satan: a lie of Satan to get you to believe you can’t go on, that you can’t take on any NEW work(s). If you are plagued with gossip as a result of past sins or disobedience then turn to your Father in Heaven and remind yourself of His love and forgiveness. Then remind the devil of his future. If you’re experiencing doors shut to you by men and committees of men, rejoice. Those shut doors are just direction for you into the GREAT OPEN DOORS of ministry for God in these last days! But since you KNOW that God has commanded you to START NOW and that He is FOR YOU, then all you have to do is be willing to FIGHT the good fight of faith. Stop global whimping! Stand up and fight. And, after you have done all, STAND. “Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” [Ephesians 6:13] The Greek word “histaymee” here for “stand” means “to continue, covenant, establish, hold up.” 3. BELIEVE The only one that can cause you to lose is YOU! Jesus said unto him, “If you can BELIEVE, all things are possible to him that believes.” [Mark 9:23] Put some MIRACLES in your account. Use your faith to put supplies and people (everything and everyone) you need “in trust” ... that is, in “YOUR heavenly bank account” ahead of time. That’s what the word “believe” in Mark 9:23 means [Greek “pisteuo”]. Have FAITH ... establish some credit ahead of time ... by believing and receiving what you need ahead of time. Be specific! “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” [Mark 11:24] The word “lambano” here for “receive” means “to take, to get hold of, attain, obtain.” The SECRET is WHEN YOU PRAY! That’s the TIME to RECEIVE! When you’re in your prayer closet that’s the TIME to receive those BIG things from God ... some may come into play years later ... but you receive in faith NOW ... WHEN you pray ... and you SHALL have it! Later in the day, the devil will try to challenge your faith and tell you “Those things you prayed for this morning are TOO BIG ... God isn’t going to do that for YOU!” That’s when you want to say to the devil, “Thank you, Mr. Liar, for reminding me that I RECEIVED those things in my prayer time this morning; now I KNOW I have them ... Jesus, The Truth, promised me.” The only one who can cause you to win is YOU! God is already FOR YOU; that is a given fact! You KNOW this ... now YOU are the one who must do your part: START NOW ... SEEK HIS FACE ... FIGHT ... BELIEVE ... ACT! MUSIC 4. DREAM BIG Dream BIG ... it may be your last chance! “Call unto me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you know not.” [Jeremiah 33:3] My transliteration of Jeremiah 33:3 is as follows: Call God out by His name, cry out [“qara”] to Him, pronounce to Him your cause. He will pay attention to you with His eye and respond to you [“hanah”] by announcing His answer. He will manifest to you boldly [“nagad”] exceedingly great things [“gadol-gadol”] that are strong and inaccessible [“batsar”] to you except by His miracles. “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us ...” [Ephesians 3:20] How BIG can you ask? How BIG can you think? Start challenging God. Quit insulting your Father. Give your Heavenly Father the opportunity to show you Who He is! Litigate. Go to the Heavenly Court. Plead with God. Tell Him you are wanting to be involved with His program to bless the nations: to reach the world for Messiah Yeshua. Tell Him you won’t take anything LESS than every nation, tribe, tongue and dialect for your Lord! “Put me in remembrance: let us plead together. You make a declaration, so that you may be justified.” [Isaiah 43:26] 5. LIVE HOLY Set yourself apart so that you can be used for “special” works for the Lord. “If a man therefore purge himself from these [dishonorable practices], he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” [2 Timothy 2:21] “Sanctified” [Greek: “hagiazo”] means purified or consecrated. Resist the devil. Realize the enemy’s tactics. Remind yourself, “The enemy is a liar and a loser!” Give glory to God by living holy. Through holy living you accomplish the following:        You please God;        You establish a testimony;        You enable yourself to be used for “special” works. EXHORTATION For those of you who are "starting again" let me encourage you. You will be stronger this time. You will have the "eye of the tiger." The enemy will never take you captive again .. and he will never take you alive! You've already been close to death at the hands of the enemy. You will never let it happen again. You will be one of God's key generals. You will serve Him out of love, appreciation, and thanksgiving. If God used Moses (who was a murderer and repented) and if God used King David (who was both an adulterer and murderer who repented), then God can use you! On the last day of his life Samson killed more of the enemy Philistines that in the previous times of battle. Let God avenge you for the times the enemy has wounded you! “For the Lord God will help me, therefore shall I not be confounded. Therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. He is near that justifies me; who will contend with me? Let us stand together: who is my adversary? Let him come near to me. Behold, the Lord God will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? Lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.” [Isaiah 50:7-9] “And even to your old age I am He; and even to grayish-white hair will I carry you. I have made and I will bear; even I will carry, and I will deliver you.” [Isaiah 46:4] “Behold, all they that were incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded; they shall be as nothing. And they that strive with you shall perish.” [Isaiah 41:11] I trust this message will stir you to let God use YOU in bringing about TRUE revolutionary change in society and in the world.
