By exploring the 'what-if mind,' we unpack how these relentless thoughts can spiral into overwhelming anxiety. The discussion centers on recognizing where our concerns originate, often rooted in our instinct to protect ourselves. While our minds are hardwired to anticipate dangers and potential problems, this survival mechanism can easily turn into an exhausting cycle of worry. The show emphasizes that these what-ifs can feel convincing and powerful, often painting scenarios that never materialize while neglecting positive outcomes. This pattern leads to a narrowed perspective, amplifying fear beyond reality. I stress the importance of not fighting or suppressing these thoughts but rather acknowledging their presence and gently guiding the mind back to the present—where our true power lies.Throughout the episode, I share strategies to help listeners identify and manage their what-if thoughts. The key is early recognition—skills that can be cultivated over time. I discuss the significance of labeling anxious thoughts as they arise, reframing them to acknowledge that they are simply future predictions and not current facts. This technique enables listeners to replace anxiety with grounding affirmations and return to their breath, thereby reclaiming their calm.#AnxietyRelief, #FutureAnxiety, #Overthinking, #WorryLess, #CalmYourMind, #WhatIfs, #AnxietySupport, #StressRelief, #AnxietyAwareness, #AnxietyTips, #EmotionalWellness, #QuietMind, #Mindfulness, #PresentMoment, #ReturnToNow, #BeHereNow, #BePresent, #MindfulLiving, #InTheMoment, #MindfulnessPractice, #CalmMind, #PeaceOfMind, #GuidedMeditation, #MeditationPractice, #BreathingExercises, #Breathwork, #Grounding, #Mantra, #Affirmations, #DailyMeditation, #MeditationJourney, #MindfulBreathing, #MentalHealth, #MentalHealthMatters, #SelfCare, #SelfLove, #PersonalGrowth, #InnerPeace, #Wellness, #Wellbeing, #Healing, #EndTheStigma, #AnxietyCoachesPodcast, #GinaRyan, #AnxietyCoach, #LifeCoach, #WellnessPodcast, #Coaching, #PodcastLife. #ACPSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

When we protect the pace of childhood, everyone in the family heals. In this illuminating conversation, Dr. Natasha Beck—also known as Dr. Organic Mommy—shares how slowing down, simplifying, and removing hidden toxins from our homes can transform not just our kids' health, but our own. Diagnosed as a child with ADHD and dyslexia, Dr. Beck eventually uncovered how diet, environment, and overstimulation were shaping her well-being. Now a pediatric neuropsychologist, she helps families create calmer, more connected lives through practical changes—like her two-week “fragrance-free” challenge that has surprised even the most skeptical parents. (Follow her work on Instagram, Substack, and her podcast When Millennials Become Moms.) From food choices and slow tech habits to the Waldorf philosophy and her “Three S's” framework—sleep, sugar, and screens—Dr. Beck and Ginny Yurich explore how a developmentally appropriate childhood actually restores balance for parents too. This episode is both practical and freeing, showing that you don't need to overhaul your life overnight. One slow evening, one home-cooked meal, one outdoor day at a time—those small shifts might be the self-care your whole family has been missing. Learn more about your ad choices. Rebranding Divorce: The Post-Divorce Growth Cycle—Radical Self-Care, Money Confidence, and Community Founders Mimi Sullivan and Carolyn Bilyak of Rebranding Divorce join Karen and Catherine to unpack the Post-Divorce Growth Cycle—a practical framework that helps women move from survival to confidence through radical self-care, money clarity, and healthy relationships. We discuss why community accelerates healing, how nervous-system awareness changes your money story, and why clear financial data—not emotion—drives better post-divorce decisions. Key Takeaways Clarity compounds: build confidence in one pillar (money or self-care) and the others strengthen. Regulate, then calculate: calm the nervous system so you can actually work the numbers. Community beats isolation: safe spaces prevent ruminating, revenge-energy, and rushed decisions. Data protects you: verified financials reduce mistakes, regrets, and legal costs. Growth is cyclical: each pass through the cycle allows deeper work (from budgeting → investing, from rest → purpose). Today's conversation is for the Type A, high achieving, often overwhelmed and anxious nervous system folk. Amanda talk about the pattern we often see where we stop our self-care habits when we feel good, but stopping them often puts us back into a spiral of anxiety and the story of, "why do I do this? I'm just not disciplined or motivated enough, etc..." But what if that's not the problem at all?In this episode, we reframe what it means to “stay consistent,” explore why many of us use overwhelm as our barometer, and talk about how true discipline might actually look like doing less, not more.3 Takeaways:1. Maybe you're not falling back into "bad habits" - you're overcommitting until self-care becomes impossible. When life gets good, we reflexively add more to our plates instead of maintaining what's working. The problem isn't lack of discipline; it's trying to fit 60 hours of life into 24 hours of human capacity.2. Not all regulation tools are meant to be forever - and that's okay. Healing requires adjusting your “protocol.” Just like you don't need an ankle brace after your sprain heals, some nervous system supports are temporary medicine for acute times. The key is knowing which practices are your anchors (the ones you need even when you're well) versus which ones can naturally fade as you heal.3. Redefine discipline: Maybe it's not the choice to do more, it's the courage to do less. True discipline means saying no to opportunities even though you could squeeze them in, maintaining white space in your calendar even though it makes you anxious, and remembering that feeling good isn't permission to overwhelm yourself again. In this conversation, I sit down with Beatriz Victoria Albina, a family nurse practitioner, somatic experiencing practitioner, and author of the newly released book End Emotional Outsourcing to unpack why so many of us struggle with people-pleasing, perfectionism, and burnout.Beatriz introduces the concept of "emotional outsourcing" (a term even Oprah is talking about) which describes how we've learned to source our sense of worth, safety, and belonging from everyone and everything outside ourselves. But here's the revolutionary part: she explains that these aren't personality flaws. They're survival skills we developed as kids, and we can unlearn them.We get real about the invisible labor women carry, the pressure to be productive over everything else, and why setting boundaries feels so physically uncomfortable. Beatrice then walks us through practical, body-based techniques you can start today. This conversation is for anyone who's exhausted from putting themselves last, who feels guilty for saying no, or who's ready to stop apologizing for taking up space in their own life.Connect with Beatriz: https://beatrizalbina.com/Link to Beatriz's book: https://beatrizalbina.com/book/Free Meditations: https://beatrizalbina.com/free-meditations/Beatriz on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/beatrizvictoriaalbinanp/Connect with Sabrina:https://www.instagram.com/Sabrina_Soto/www.SabrinaSoto.com

Babe, maybe your mind isn't tired and burnt outbecause you're doing too much — but because you're consuming too much. In this episode of Boss Babe Reset, I'm talking all about burnout, hustle culture, and the courage it takes to pause — not because you've fallen behind, but because you're finally ready to catch up to yourself. What really causes burnout (spoiler: it's not just overworking — it's overstimulation) How to know when it's time for a self care reset or social media break The science behind stillness and why your brain craves it Why silence is the ultimate strategy in a hustle culture that glorifies exhaustion A step-by-step plan to take a strategic social media break — without losing momentum You know I'm all about protecting your peace and your energy — and that includes how you fuel your body. Because when you're trying to avoid burnout, nourishing your body is just as important as logging off your phone. You don't lose momentum by resting — you lose it by burning out. The algorithm isn't your boss — you are. Social media is a tool, not your identity. Stillness is the new self care — and silence is the strategy. If this episode reminded you to slow down and breathe, share it with your favorite boss babe who might be running on empty.

I delve into the importance of shifting our thought patterns and embracing a more constructive mindset. Reflecting on a time before the internet, I discuss how scarce access to information made the wisdom I encountered all the more impactful. Today, with an abundance of readily available resources, it's easy to overlook the depth of insight contained within these pieces of advice. My goal is to engage listeners in a slow, thoughtful exploration of how we can apply these lessons in our daily lives. The episode centers on key passages from Al-Anon literature, specifically “Just for Today,” which provides a series of affirmations designed to encourage mindfulness and a focus on the present. I highlight several passages, starting with the reminder to live through the day without becoming overwhelmed by all our problems. This notion is transformative; it encourages breaking down challenges into manageable pieces instead of feeling burdened by life's endless demands. I illustrate how this approach can create a mental space that allows for clearer thinking and creativity, paving the way for inner peace.Moving deeper, I discuss the significance of happiness as an active choice rather than a passive state. The episode affirms Abraham Lincoln's belief that happiness is often a matter of mindset, so I urge listeners to find moments of joy, even amidst challenges. Each suggestion from the "Just for Today" list serves as a prompt for self-reflection, encouraging listeners to consider their own approaches to happiness and contentment in daily life.#AnxietyCoachesPodcast, #JustForToday, #MentalWellness, #HealingJourney, #AlAnon, #AnxietyRelief, #SelfCare, #Mindfulness, #DailyPractice, #PersonalGrowth, #MindsetShift, #LetGoAndLetGod, #InnerPeace, #FindYourCalm, #PeaceOfMind, #EmotionalHealth, #StressManagement, #LiveInThePresent, #Acceptance, #BeUnafraid, #MeditationTime, #QuietHour, #LongFormReading, #MindfulLiving, #SelfCareMatters, #StrengthenYourMind, #ExerciseYourSoul, #KindnessMatters, #ProgressNotPerfection, #RecoveryIsPossible, #OneDayAtATime, #AnxiousMind, #OvercomingAnxiety, #PanicDisorder #GinaRyan #ACPSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

After more than 20 years in the fashion and beauty world, Niehla had a late-night hummus craving in Milwaukee that changed everything. What started as a midnight snack moment turned into a full-on business built on flavor, love, and community.Niehla opens up about loss, faith, and starting over, and we get into how food can heal and connect people. She shares what it's really like to run a food business, the importance of taking care of yourself while chasing your dreams, and why kindness and a good dip go a long way. This conversation is full of heart, hustle, and hummus — the perfect combo.Chapters:• 00:17 - A New Beginning• 06:08 - The Origin of Homegirls Hummus• 12:40 - Transitioning to Healthy Eating Choices• 19:22 - Navigating Dietary Restrictions During the Holidays• 22:57 - The Journey of Homegirl Hummus• 32:06 - The Importance of Self-Care• 45:34 - Faith and Business: A Journey of Hope• 52:15 - Exploring the World of Hummus and Beyond• 56:11 - The Art of EntertainingWhat we talk aboutHow Niehla went from beauty industry boss to hummus queenThe story behind Homegirl's Hummus and how it started with one late-night cravingWhy plant-based eating doesn't have to be complicated or boringHandling grief, growth, and entrepreneurship with faith and flavorThe real talk about self-care and staying grounded while building something newAll about… Niehla OllieYou're gonna love Niehla Ollie (aka Niehla O). That led her to create Homegirl's Hummus, a plant-based brand that's all about community, creativity, and connection. She started making hummus for friends in L.A. back in 2016, and after moving back home to Chicago — and through some major life changes — she decided to go all in. This may have been a first, once we decided to not go to Italy, I decided to take my full planned vacation and Greg decided to go back to work. We had our 4 day staycation but the rest of the planned time off was all mine. How did I spend it?  Golden Window I am definitely in a unique-to-me Golden Window. The PhD is winding down, we are making massive shifts at work, and I will soon be the grandma of two heartbeats. As I realized I was going to have a lot of time to do whatever I wanted I asked myself what that should be. I plugged Greg into my calendar with the things we wanted to do. Then I looked at Abby's calendar to see went the optimal time was to spend time with her and getting her ready for the baby. I did end up spending a 4 hour block of time in the office on Sat. morning but it gave me the opportunity to bring home some Workboxes I've been wanting to clean out and organize. I also took a little time to fill in my home and work 2 and ½ year planners.  Scrapbooking On Sunday Afternoon I got the best treat, Grayson fell asleep on me for about 90 minutes. But you know me, I'm productive. So while I was trapped in grandma heaven I ordered pictures. Because one of my initiatives once the PhD is done, is to get back to scrapbooking. So I ordered pictures and loved on Grayson. During this time off I was able to get a lot of sorting of pictures done and now I feel ready to start #allthescrapbooks Shopping Like it was the 80's And then I had a friend who was going to kind of be on standby for Abby and Grayson while we were gone who said "Ya know, I still have that time free, do you want to do something?" I did! I wanted to go shopping. We took two whole days shopping. We thoroughly went through the women's department in each store and just took our time. This made going through my closet fun too. I did a little rearranging of what's in my closet with the newest modification of Hunter (our dog) sleeping in my closet now.  I am ready for this next phase of life.  And we checked out Costco and Sam's Club. I wanted to compare products that they offered. And I knew Sam's Club had the diapers and wipes I wanted to stock up on for the baby. This grandma is ready for grandbaby number 2!  As the week came to and end, I had the choice to go back into the office on Thursday or take one more day to myself. I talked myself into staying home. I got to get to some binders, workboxes, and slash pockets I'd been wanting to. I got to grab high tea with my cousin and after we went for a nice long walk. With the baby coming and the hurry up and wait game with the dissertation, I knew to maximize on this time. Self care is more than a massage. I wanted to share how I spent my time, to give you ideas of different ways of self care.  EPISODE RESOURCES: The Sunday Basket® Sign Up for the Organize 365® Newsletter  Did you enjoy this episode? Ever have a day where everything goes sideways and your body just won't calm down? In this episode, Dan Allender and Rachael Clinton Chen explore emotional dysregulation: why our nervous systems spiral under stress, especially with a history of trauma, and how we can respond with mercy rather than shame. Through humor, real-life stories, and insights from both neuroscience and Scripture, they show that dysregulation isn't weakness; it's a signal from your body asking for care and compassion. Their conversation also offers practical ways to tend to your body, mind, and soul. Christy Tennery-Spalding, activist and organizer, shares how growing up near Washington D.C. shaped her oppositional stance to power structures and led her to find a “political home” in San Francisco's activist community. She introduces the concept of informed consent in organizing—ensuring participants feel safe, informed, and empowered rather than treated as bodies in the street. Tennery-Spalding challenges the wellness industrial complex's version of self-care, revealing how she fell into the trap of “capitalist self-care”—overloading herself with yoga classes, meditation, and clean eating until she burned out from her own self-care routine. Drawing from her experience with severe scoliosis, depression, and PTSD, she advocates for anti-capitalist self-care that questions productivity culture and challenges the belief that our worth is tied to usefulness. She explores how childhood conditioning around pleasing others, performing, and being palatable shapes our relationship with rest, and why sometimes the most radical act of self-care is simply lying down and being intentionally “not useful.” Hosted on Acast. As we navigate our lives filled with pressures from work, family, and health, it has become increasingly essential to reconnect with our internal sense of calm. So often, we allow anxiety to take the driver's seat, leading us to believe that if we can control every aspect of our lives, we will find peace. However, I invite you to explore with me the paradigm shift that comes from recognizing what is indeed within our control and what isn't.The discussion begins by acknowledging the overwhelming nature of our current environment, where uncertainty seems to prevail. In these moments, our minds can spiral into an anxious loop filled with "what if" scenarios. I highlight that while our minds are extraordinary problem solvers and have kept us safe throughout history, that very capability can become counterproductive when anxiety takes hold. As we unpack this, we see how anxiety amplifies our reactions to uncertainty, leading us to try managing aspects of life that are far beyond our reach.I introduce the idea of a conceptual circle that represents the dichotomy between what we control and what we don't. Inside this circle, we can focus on elements such as our choices, self-care, and responses to daily challenges. Outside that circle lies the unpredictable — the weather, other people's decisions, and countless scenarios that we cannot influence. I emphasize the crucial shift towards redirecting our attention from the outer circle back to our own sphere of influence, positing that our true power resides there.#AnxietyCoachesPodcast, #GinaRyan, #Anxiety, #FindingCalm, #Uncertainty, #Control, #Acceptance, #Mindfulness, #InnerPeace, #SelfCare, #StressRelief, #Resilience, #MentalWellness, #WhatIsInYourControl, #Stoicism, #MarcusAurelius, #AnxietyManagement, #LettingGo, #NotAControlFreak, #AnxiousMind, #NervousSystem, #EmotionalRegulation, #PeaceInThePresent, #StopFixing, #EmbraceUncertainty, #MentalHealthMatters, #AnxietyAwareness, #PersonalPowerSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
