Summary: The State of Warehousing and Fulfillment In this podcast, Joe Spisak, Founder and CEO of Fulfill.com, shares his expertise on the latest trends and challenges in the warehousing and fulfillment industry for ecommerce brands and 3PLs. The discussion covers the impact of COVID on ecommerce, the resurgence of online sales, and the importance of choosing the right 3PL partner. Joe also shares his personal journey from a small board game company to founding Ship Daddy and eventually creating Fulfill.com, a platform that helps ecommerce brands find the best warehousing and fulfillment partners from a network of over 650 3PLs across 2500+ locations worldwide. The podcast explores effective marketing strategies for 3PLs, the current state of mergers and acquisitions in the industry, and the evolving expectations of ecommerce brands from their 3PL providers. Joe Spisak's insights offer valuable guidance for both ecommerce brands and 3PLs navigating this rapidly changing landscape. #ecommerceFulfillment #3PLPartnership #WarehouseOptimization About Joe Spisak Joe Spisak is the Founder and CEO of www.Fulfill.com, a marketplace that connects ecommerce brands with the right warehousing and fulfillment partners. Prior to starting Fulfill, Joe founded and successfully exited ShipDaddy, a flexible fulfillment solution for ecommerce companies. Joe is also the founder of a 7-figure ecommerce brand, which is when he learned first-hand how difficult it is for shipper to find a good fulfillment partner. Earlier in his career, Joe was a Network Engineer for AT&T global. Joe earned a bachelor's degree in leadership and public policy, and a master's degree in education from University of Virginia. Joe was a scholarship wrestler at UVA. About Fulfill.com Fulfill.com, headquartered in Austin, Texas is the #1 3PL marketplace to help brands find the right warehousing and fulfillment partner. Choosing the wrong 3PL partner can lead to significant losses and setbacks for ecommerce companies. The ecommerce boom during COVID, subsequent decline, and current resurgence driven by brands diversifying into ancillary marketplaces and omnichannel strategies. Regionalized SEO, referral-based marketing, and content marketing are effective strategies for 3PL warehouses to generate leads. Mergers and acquisitions in the warehousing and fulfillment industry are picking up again, with multiples back in a more reasonable range of 3-5x. The ecommerce fulfillment industry is evolving, with brands expecting better communication and faster response times from their 3PL providers. With increased competition among 3PLs, ecommerce brands have an opportunity to negotiate better rates, service, and communication with their existing 3PL or find a new partner. Apologetics Live episode 209 Prepare yourself for a dynamic, thought-provoking journey through the realm of Calvinism. Bold promises are made here - you'll get to unravel the essence of this doctrine, understand its misrepresentation, and delve into its practical implications. We tackle many theological topics, discuss the challenges of debating Calvinism, and examine the misperceptions surrounding it. The conversation propels deeper into the theological fabric of Calvinism and its practical aspects. We dissect the doctrines of superintending, concurrence, regeneration, and irresistible grace that form the essence of Calvinism. We also dissect controversial topics like Open Theism and its implications on the perception of God, reconciling God's justice with human free will. Greg Boyd's arguments and their impact on our lives in relation to God form a significant part of this discussion. We culminate this intriguing conversation with an exploration of the confusion between justification and sanctification and the Christian's works as described in the book of James. In the third part, we shift gears and focus on the lifestyle and belief aspects in Christianity. Using scriptural references, we highlight how our conduct should reflect the Gospel of Christ. We discuss the often confusing concepts of regeneration and salvation, and how to become a 'new creation' in Christ. We further grapple with the misinterpretation of Bible passages, the challenge of responding to false teachers, and the essence of remaining faithful to the Gospel. Lastly, we share some updates about upcoming conferences and activities, providing a glimpse of how to balance ministry and travel in these uncertain times. Joey Krug is the co-CIO at Pantera Capital, the first U.S. institutional asset manager focused exclusively on blockchain technology, with 4.1bn assets under management.Joey is also the co-founder of the Forecast Foundation, contributing to the development of Augur (a decentralized oracle and prediction market protocol).Joey is a pioneer in the world of blockchain finance, and I want to take this opportunity to discuss two leading questions: how might the final takeover of defi (decentralized finance) over tradfi (traditional finance) look like? What are the barriers we need to overcome? As the co-CIO of the largest institutional crypto investor in the world and a private angel investor, few people have traversed the two worlds more than Joey. This gives Joey a unique set of sometimes surprising insights. For example, the liquidity of token investments is a double-edged sword. Token investments provide investors with more flexibility but investments with more extended holdup periods tend to perform better.Pantera's most successful investments were from their venture fund. The big win for defi would be to do away with the bloat of large banks: real estate footprint, manual transaction processing, and regulatory compliance. We discuss regulatory compliance extensively. The problem in tradfi is that legal norms evolve around the assumption of centralized entities developing regulations, but many of the necessary guardrails can instead be written in code. The problem with tradfi is not lack of financial products. Many traditional financial products, like mortgages or stock market exchanges, do make sense to Joey. What defi can instead do is participation in the system can be more global, more 24/7 (although that's not only an advantage), and more efficient. One of the key things to get right to make defi more available is to make it more user-friendly to the average consumer - a lot of work remains to be done.Infinita Website: https://infinitavc.com/Upcoming Conferences in Prospera: https://lu.ma/infinita

It was so fun to chat with Kelsey Merkley (@bella_velo) during our second #InVinoFab interview -- women telling their stories. There was a wealth of stuff we chatted about and we hope you enjoy listening to the conversation as much as we had chatting:Kelsey thinks that more women need to be leaders and recognized for the work they do in the open education movement and in education. From biking to South Africa from Canada and building bridges between communities in the global south, Kelsey is always considering what the access and opportunities for learning. We need to encouraging ways to have more dialogue with those who aren't always at the table/classroom/conference to be cognizant include a voice that is not always heard, specifically to ensure we have access to knowledge and the opportunity-cost that we miss out on by not learning from an audience that is more representative of all nations. How can we learn to solve issues in education from others? How can we offer space for other voices and remove the barriers for learning? As a former librarian, Kelsey believes in access to information and ensuring knowledge is equitably shared. Some of the open technologies (ahem MOOCs) did not necessarily change the world, but it has gotten her thinking about the user experience and their own digital affordances beyond our North American experience. From the way we structure the web to the content we load onto each page, the digital pathway to accessing information is not the same and there are so many inequities for those learners who might not have the same privileges. Who are we providing learning to? What are the barriers faced when accessing learning globally? Have we thought about these issues in Canada or the US -- when there are remote areas with limited internet access?Ways we can consider access for women in education and at our conferences:-Are we offering educational scholarships to women who might not have access?-Are there funds or scholarships for women to a conference?-Is there childcare offered at the conference you are attending? Why or why not?-Are we thinking about ways to make connections at events or conferences? E.g. coffee breaks, morning breakfast, open networking, etc.-Can we create more spaces to have a chat or engage in dialog? E.g. space in the program of a conference, taking time for open discussions at meetings, etc.Resources Mentioned in this episode#100Day100Women Drawing 100 heroic women in 100 days https://medium.com/@Wikimedia/drawing-100-heroic-women-in-100-days-de88ef33f142 by @RoriComics-Wikipedia https://www.wikipedia.org/ non-profit organization designed to share information.-Wiki Education https://wikiedu.org/ connecting higher ed to the publishing power of Wikipedia.-Creative Commons https://creativecommons.org/ to legally share knowledge and creative works.Upcoming Conferences mentioned: Creative Commons Global Summit (April 13-15, 2018) in Toronto, ON, Canada https://summit.creativecommons.org/  BC Campus Festival of Learning (May 28-30, 2018) in Vancouver, BC, Canada https://bccampus.ca/festival-of-learning-2018/ Uncommon Women http://uncommonwomen.org/Uncommon Women is a space to offer voices, experiences, and work shared by the open education community in higher ed. SPaMCAST 463 features our essay on using big picture stories to generate resonance.  Early in the history of Agile, most descriptions of Agile included the need to define a central metaphor to help guide the work.  Somewhere over time, the idea of a central metaphor has disappeared as Agile thought leaders have focused on more tactical facets of Agile methods and frameworks. It’s time to reconsider the big picture story! We will also have columns from Gene Hughson of Form Follows Function fame.  Gene and I discuss his recent essay, Management, Simple and Wrong – Semantics, Systems, and Self-Correction.  This essay is about the meaning and includes an appearance from Snidely Whiplash. SPaMCAST 461 features our essay - Agile -- Leadership Required.  For an Agile transformation to be effective and then stay effective there are four cornerstones of Agile leadership constancy that must be addressed with passion and constancy of purpose. Our second column this week is from Kim Pries (The Software Sensei). Kim fills in the middle of the cast with a discussion of the conceptual skills a software developer should have. To be good in this industry you need to be more than a set of coding languages or testing techniques.   Steve Tendon, brings chapter 19 of Tame The Flow: Hyper-Productive Knowledge-Work Performance, The TameFlow Approach and Its Application to Scrum and Kanban published J Ross (buy a copy here). We tackle Chapter 19, which is titled Understanding Common Cause Variation.  Steve share insights that caused me to rethink the whole idea of common cause variation. Here is a promo for my appearance during the Denver Startup Week.  On Thursday, September 28th at 8 AM I will be sharing Storytelling: Developing the Big Picture for Agile Efforts.  The presentation, in Denver, Colorado, will be at held at Industry.  Register and be there!!!! A well-done Agile project reminds us that the focus of any set of requirements needs to be on an outcome rather than a collection of “whats” and “whos”. Storytelling is a powerful tool to elevate even the most diehard requirements analyst from a discussion of individual requirements to a discussion of outcomes. Attend this session and learn how to peel away the proverbial layers of the backlog evolution “onion” by using storytelling techniques to understand the big picture. Perfect for PMs and leaders of any agile driven project. This essay will help you find and mitigate the risk of resistance! The second column this week is from Gene Hughson and his Form Follows Function column. Gene discusses his essay titled Innovation, Intention, Planning, and Execution. One of the gems Gene delivers in our discussion is that effectiveness requires reasoned, intentional action. While we might all agree, why is it so hard to remember that when push comes to shove in a project? This week Ben Edmunds and Phil Sturgeon are joined by Jacques Woodcock and Jordan Kasper to discuss virtPHP. virtPHP is a tool for managing multiple environments on your development machine. It is similar to Python’s virtualenv or Ruby’s rbenv, but for PHP. Upcoming Conferences Phil will be speaking at PHP South Africa in April. Ben has no idea what he will attend this year. Jacques will likely be speaking at True North PHP later this year. Jordan will be speaking at jQuery UK in May and at Dutch PHP in June.
