Last year I went to an exhibition at the Städel museum in Frankfurt that was entitled Holbein and the Renaissance in the North. That is the elder Holbein, the father of the Holbein who came to England. This exhibition has now ended, but there is still a great summary available on the Städel website.Though obviously not present at the exhibition, one key focus was the Fugger chapel in the church of St. Anne in Augsburg, one of the earliest and most significant Renaissance building north of the Alps. Am 27. Oktober 2017 verschwindet die 39-jährige Yvonne Rieken spurlos. Die Mutter eines Sohnes war an diesem Abend mit ihrem Ex-Freund verabredet. Nach dem Treffen bei ihm zuhause habe er sie – so seine Aussage – nach Hause gefahren. An einer Bushaltestelle, nur 200 Meter von ihrer Wohnung entfernt, wollte sie aussteigen und den Rest zu Fuß zurücklegen. Seitdem ist sie verschwunden. Die Polizei sucht tagelang, wochenlang – doch von Yvonne Rieken fehlt jede Spur. Die Ermittlungen richten sich bald auf den Ex-Freund, der bei Befragungen zwar freundlich wirkt – doch Zeugenaussagen zeichnen ein anderes Bild: extrem eifersüchtig, kontrollierend. Der Verdacht wächst. Es folgen intensive Ermittlungen und eineinhalb Jahre Ungewissheit für die Angehörigen – bis nach einer „Aktenzeichen XY… Ungelöst“-Sendung ein Zeuge mit einem entscheidenden Hinweis auf die Polizei zukommt. Und dann, im Frühjahr 2019, rund 18 Monate nach dem Verschwinden, wird Yvonnes Leiche gefunden. In unmittelbarer Nähe: eine blaue Daunenjacke – mit DNA-Spuren, die eine klare Sprache sprechen.
