What if passion isn't something you stumble upon—but something you bring with you? In this episode, we're flipping the script on what it means to “find your passion.” I share how I've come to understand that passion isn't found in the work, the title, or the circumstance—it's born from within. We often believe that others have more fun, more fulfillment, or more clarity because of what they do. But here's the truth: perception isn't the full story.I dive into the idea that passion produces passion—and that we can create joy and energy in our lives by choosing to show up differently. From the quote, “My job is not fun—I'm a fun person,” we explore what it looks like to lead with our own spark and bring vibrancy to even the most mundane moments. Whether you're feeling disconnected or just ready to tap back into your own fire, this episode is a loving reminder that you hold the power to make anything feel more alive. After you listen, I'd love to know—what's one way you can bring a little more fun, fire, or passion into your world this week? Tag me on Instagram or send a message and let's celebrate how YOU show up and create your own spark.

99: Plants vs Animals: Why Meat Beats Plants for Nutrition

The Primal Shift

For most of human history, survival depended on eating the foods that gave us the most nutrients with the least effort. That usually meant animals, which are dense in protein, fat, and bioavailable vitamins and minerals. But in recent years, we've been told that plants are the true superfoods.  Raw kale in your smoothie? Spinach salads every day? The darker and leafier, the better, right? Not quite. In this episode, I dive into the real story behind plant-based foods and the antinutrients they contain, as well as how they compare to animal-based sources of nutrition.  We'll talk about why humans evolved to thrive on meat, how plants defend themselves with chemical compounds like oxalates, lectins and goitrogens, and what all that means for your health. And I'll share practical tips for how to prepare the least toxic plants safely — when and if you choose to include them in your diet. After struggling with IBS for over 30 years, I fixed my gut issues through a radical shift in how I approached food. It wasn't about chasing superfoods or stacking more supplements. It was about eliminating the things that were holding me back, and embracing the nutrient-dense, low-toxin foods that our ancestors relied on for thousands of years. If you're eating spinach every day or downing kale smoothies because they're “healthy,” you might want to take a closer look at what those foods are actually doing to your body. And if you've avoided organ meats because of the taste, I'll share a simple way to get their benefits without having to touch a skillet. This episode isn't about fearmongering or food dogma. It's about reclaiming clarity, understanding what's actually nourishing, what's neutral, and what might be slowly working against you.  Learn more: Plants vs. Meat: Why I Stopped Eating Veggies: https://michaelkummer.com/plants-vs-meat/  49: From Almonds to Spinach: Dr. Schindler on Avoiding Common Dietary Traps: https://www.primalshiftpodcast.com/49-from-almonds-to-spinach-dr-schindler-on-avoiding-common-dietary-traps/  6 Benefits of Beef Liver I Wish I Had Known About Sooner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuoJaIXdAYI In this episode: 00:00 Intro 00:36 Debunking common food myths 00:53 Overview of today's topics 01:34 The benefits of animal-based diets 03:15 Introduction to plant-based diets 05:44 Mitigating plant toxins 07:59 Best and worst plant foods 10:36 Final recommendations and conclusion Find me on social media for more health and wellness content: Website: https://michaelkummer.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@MichaelKummer Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/primalshiftpodcast/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/michaelkummer/ Twitter/X: https://twitter.com/mkummer82 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/realmichaelkummer/ [Medical Disclaimer] The information shared on this video is for educational purposes only, is not a substitute for the advice of medical doctors or registered dietitians (which I am not) and should not be used to prevent, diagnose, or treat any condition. “An interdisciplinary approach to medicine is probably the way the future is going to go. There will be dieticians and a whole host of different people involved in helping someone to heal.” —Jonathan Carp   For too long, we've been told that health comes in a medicine bottle or a doctor's office, but what if the real power lies in the food we choose every day? If you've ever felt frustrated by quick fixes that don't last or wondered how to make healthy changes that actually stick, you're not alone—and this episode is for you. Dr. Jonathan Carp is a board-certified dermatologist and the founder of Miracle Noodle, a company born from his passion for using nutrition and lifestyle to transform health. With years of experience helping patients and building a wellness brand, he's on a mission to make healthy eating accessible, enjoyable, and truly life-changing. Tune in as Justine and Dr. Carp break down the myths about comfort food, reveal how small changes can lead to big results, and share real stories of healing, grit, and the surprising joy of eating well.   Meet Jonathan: A Dermatologist since 2000, Dr. Jonathan Carp started Miracle Noodle in 2006. In 2004, he had a patient who healed herself from lupus through nutritional and lifestyle modification. Since then, he has treated hundreds of patients through lifestyle modification, especially nutritional changes, with a special interest in auto-immune diseases. This has turned into a nutritional obsession that led to his learning about the health benefits of the konjac plant. While he still practices medicine, a significant amount of time is now also devoted to Miracle Noodle and exploring and testing healthy, healing food options based on traditional cultural diets. Dr. Carp firmly believes that all that ails us in the world today could be solved by going back a few generations and making sure that the nutritional wisdom of our ancestors is remembered and combined with the latest science. While Miracle Noodle keeps him busy, it has allowed him the resources to investigate and learn about the nutritional wisdom of the world and how to get products and knowledge out to the world through his patients and his companies. Ever feel like your business hustle is outpacing your soul's rhythm?Like you're building the empire, checking the boxes, slaying your goals… but deep down, something's still missing? In this episode of the Happy Hustle Podcast, we are resharing the guest guru training by my friend, Danette May.Danette is a best-selling author, transformational speaker, and founder of multiple businesses, including Earth Echo Foods. But before all the success, she was a broke single mom with just $47 to her name. She turned her pain into purpose, her rock bottom into a launchpad—and now she's empowering millions with her story, spirituality, and soul-aligned strategies. In this episode, we dive deep into how tuning into your life force, crafting a clear vision, and practicing daily soul time can radically shift not just your business… but your entire existence.Danette didn't just wake up with multiple seven-figure brands and a global platform. She created a clear vision for the life she wanted. And that vision pulled her forward, even when everything around her screamed, “Give up.”She talks about how writing down your desires and being honest about where you're struggling creates the foundation for transformation. If you're running a business without a clear “why” and “what for,” you're just reacting to life—instead of designing it.Danette also shares how just a few shifts in mindset turned mundane routines into powerful rituals. When you bring purpose into your actions—whether it's brewing your morning coffee or leading your team—you activate a different frequency. One that attracts the right people, the right opportunities, and the right momentum. She doesn't teach manifestation as wishful thinking. She teaches it as a science of frequency. You have to act as if your vision has already come true. Embody that energy. And keep showing up as the future version of you—right now.Whether it's with your team, your partner, or your clients—radical honesty + radical love is the move. Danette opens up about navigating relationships and how accepting others (and ourselves) in their wholeness is key to growth. If you're grinding but not glowing… it's time to look within. If your team isn't vibing… it's time to reset the energy. If you're leading without soul… it's time to remember who you are.Danette's story proves that when you blend vision + soul + strategy, you create not just success… but a legacy.Because the truth is—you don't have to sacrifice your well-being to scale. You don't have to disconnect from your heart to lead. You can build a soul-aligned business that fuels your bank account and your spirit.Connect with Danettehttps://www.instagram.com/thedanettemay/https://www.facebook.com/TheDanetteMay/https://www.youtube.com/user/danettemay/https://twitter.com/DanetteFitnessFind Danette on her website: https://danettemay.com/Connect with Cary!https://www.instagram.com/caryjack/https://www.facebook.com/SirCaryJackhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/cary-jack-kendzior/https://twitter.com/thehappyhustlehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFDNsD59tLxv2JfEuSsNMOQ/featured Get a free copy of his new book, The Happy Hustle, 10 Alignments to Avoid Burnout & Achieve Blissful Balance https://www.thehappyhustle.com/bookSign up for The Journey: 10 Days To Become a Happy Hustler Online Coursehttps://thehappyhustle.com/thejourney/Apply to the Montana Mastermind Epic Camping Adventurehttps://thehappyhustle.com/mastermind/“It's time to Happy Hustle, a blissfully balanced life you love, full of passion, purpose, and positive impact!”Episode Sponsors:If you're feeling stressed, not sleeping great, or your energy's been kinda meh lately—let me put you on to something that's been a total game-changer for me: Magnesium Breakthrough by BiOptimizers.
