AfW-Vermittlerbarometer. Die überwiegende Mehrheit hält das Thema für unwichtig oder lehnt es ab. Der AfW spricht sich deshalb für eine Aussetzung der Abfragepflicht in ihrer jetzigen Form aus. Der Verband unterstützt dabei ausdrücklich den Vorstoß seines Partnerverbands VOTUM. This could lead to longer sales cycles and a shift in budget approvals for tech solutions. The delivery of cloud services is evolving, with a focus on outcomes rather than just uptime. A recent survey by the International Data Corporation emphasizes that managed service providers (MSPs) must prioritize customer success and align their services with clients' business objectives. As cloud technology becomes more integral to business transformations, MSPs are encouraged to move beyond traditional service level agreements (SLAs) and adopt a value-oriented approach. This shift is crucial to avoid commoditization and maintain profitability in a competitive market. TD Cinex has introduced a new Partner Loyalty Program aimed at strengthening relationships with business partners through rewards similar to consumer loyalty programs. This initiative reflects a growing trend in the industry, where partners increasingly value loyalty incentives over traditional vendor benefits. Work should always be responding to the technological changes and needs of the time.On the myth of replacement in technology and work45:55: The myth of replacement, as I talk about in the book, is really. It's not that technologies don't enable us to do things with fewer people. Again, that's really the definition of productivity and not a bad definition for technology in these settings. It's more that, for one, it's very rare that you see a technology replace a human job and do that job the same way. Much more common that they change the nature of the work. Either they move it to a different place, they change the kind of skills that are required. They maybe make the job higher level. Maybe they make the job lower level. And you want to ask those questions about who's doing the work, where are they? What's their background, what's their training? Why does it matter? Aktuell gibt es 2086 Menschen in der Schweiz, die schon hundert Mal Geburtstag feiern durften, also älter als 100 sind. Von diesen Menschen können wir viel lernen. Auch über den Umgang mit dem Tod. Denn auch damit haben die Ältesten unter uns viel Erfahrung: Als letzte ihrer Generation mussten sie bereits viele Familienangehörige oder Freundschaften gehen lassen. Wo die 100-Jährigen uns ein Vorbild sind? Mit einem mehrheitlich zufriedenen Blick aufs Leben. Mit "The Marshall Mathers LP", seinem dritten Album, landet Eminem auch bei uns in Europa auf Spitzenplätzen der Albumcharts. Der bürgerliche Name von Eminem ist Marshall Bruce Mathers III. Damit wird schon beim Blick auf den Albumtitel "The Marshall Mathers LP" klar: Hier wird es sehr persönlich. Nach "The Slim Shady LP" demaskiert Rapper Eminem sich hier an vielen Stellen – aber eben nicht an allen. Welche Person in den einzelnen Songs zu uns spricht, entdeckt man auf diesem Album oft erst auf den zweiten Blick: Ist es der Mensch Marshall Mathers, der Rapper Eminem oder doch wieder sein Alter Ego "Slim Shady"? Eminem erzählt auf seinem Album "The Marshall Mathers LP" viele Geschichten. Es geht viel um Gewalt und Drogen – Themen, die ihn schon sein ganzes Leben beschäftigen. Von seinem Vater verlassen landet Eminem mit seiner Mutter Deborah im Kindesalter in einem Trailerpark in Warren, einem Vorort von Detroit. Zu Schulzeiten bringt ihn sein nur wenige Jahre älterer Onkel und bester Freund Ronnie zum Hip-Hop. Die Jugendzeit ist für Eminem ist besonders hart. Seine Mutter ist von Tabletten abhängig und gewalttätig, sein Onkel Ronnie nimmt sich das Leben und Eminem bricht die Schule ab. Viele diese Themen verarbeitet Eminem in seinen Songs. Wer nur kurz in die Platte reinhört, bekommt den Eindruck, dass es hier nur um vulgäre Beleidigungen, Gewaltfantasien und Drogen geht. Dabei setzt Eminem sich an vielen Stellen von "The Marshall Mathers LP" mit den Schattenseiten des neuerworbenen Ruhms auseinander. Was erwartet das Plattenlabel von mir? Was erwarten die Fans? Und was macht dieser Druck mit mir und meinem Umfeld? Immer wieder wurde Eminem als homophob und frauenfeindlich kritisiert. Von hohen politischen Ämtern und von Aktivisten wurde gegen ihn mobil gemacht. Dabei wurde ihm auch vorgeworfen, Täter, wie zum Beispiel die des Amoklaufs an der Columbine High School durch seine Songtexte mit expliziten Gewaltfantasien angeheizt und motiviert zu haben. Eminem selbst weist in seiner Musik immer wieder darauf hin, dass man seine Songs nicht zu ernst nehmen sollte und er gerne übertreibt. Klar ist, Eminem will provozieren. "The Marshall Mathers LP" ist ein Album, das mit seinen sehr transparenten, eingängigen und markanten Beats (zum Großteil von Hip-Hop-Legende Dr. Dre) definitiv im Ohr bleibt und auch Spaß macht. Aber die Platte fordert den Hörer sehr, denn die Texte von Eminem, wenn sie auch vollgepackt sind mit – bewusst provozierenden – Ausdrücken und mehr als vulgären Beleidigungen, ist unglaublich tiefgründig und vielschichtig. Peter Reber ist Musiker, Komponist und Musikproduzent. Mit vier Teilnahmen als Interpret und zwei als Komponist und Produzent ist er vermutlich die Person in der Schweiz mit der grössten ESC-Erfahrung. Ganz sicher aber hat der ESC Peter Rebers Karriere stark unterstützt und beeinflusst. Das liegt nicht nur an den vier Auftritten mit «Peter, Sue & Marc» und Hits wie «Djambo Djambo», «Io senza te» und anderen, sondern vor allem auch an den beiden ESC-Teilnahmen als Produzent und Komponist. Denn mit den Erfolgen von Paolas «Cinéma» und Pepe Lienhards «Swiss Lady» - beides aus Peter Rebers Feder - wurde er auf einmal auch als Komponist und Produzent aus einem kleinen Land international wahr- und ernstgenommen, was zu vielen weiteren Aufträgen geführt hat. Im Gespräch mit Gastgeber Michael Luisier erzählt Peter Reber aber auch von seiner Herkunft aus dem Berner Arbeiterquartier Bümpliz und seiner frühen Förderung als Musiker durch Eltern und Lehrer. John Holdren is the Teresa and John Heinz Research Professor for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and co-director of the Science, Technology, and Public Policy Program at the School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. He is a former Professor of Environmental Science and Policy in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, and Affiliated Professor in the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Science. He is also President Emeritus and Senior Advisor to the President at the Woodwell Climate Research Center, a pre-eminent, independent, environmental-research organization. From 2009 to 2017, Holdren was President Obama's Science Advisor and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, becoming the longest-serving Science Advisor to the President in the history of the position. Before joining Harvard, was a professor of energy resources at the University of California, Berkeley, where he founded and led the interdisciplinary graduate-degree program in energy and resources. Prior to that he was a theoretical physicist in the Theory Group of the Magnetic Fusion Energy Division at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and a Senior Research Fellow at Caltech. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the MacArthur Foundation and Chairman of the Committee on International Security and Arms Control at the National Academy of Sciences. During the Clinton Administration, he served for both terms on the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, leading multiple studies on energy-technology innovation and nuclear arms control. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, the American Philosophical Society, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Academy of Political and Social Science, and the Council on Foreign Relations. He is also a foreign member of the Royal Society of London and the Indian National Academy of Engineering and a former President of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His many honors include one of the first MacArthur Prize Fellowships (1981) and the Moynihan Prize of the American Academy of Political and Social Sciences. In 1995, he gave the acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, an international organization of scientists and public figures. He holds SB and SM degrees from MIT in aeronautics and astronautics and a Ph.D. from Stanford in aeronautics and astronautics and theoretical plasma physics.Jennifer Spence is the Director of the Arctic Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, with expertise related to sustainable development, international governance, institutional effectiveness, and public policy. Spence currently co-chairs the Arctic Research Cooperation and Diplomacy Research Priority Team for the Fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV), participates as a member of the Climate Expert Group for the Arctic Council's Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme, and sits as a member of the Yukon Arctic Security Advisory Council. Spence was the Executive Secretary of the Arctic Council's Sustainable Development Working Group from 2019-2023. Previously, she taught and conducted research at Carleton University and worked for a 2-year term at the United Nations Development Programme. She also worked for 18 years with the Government of Canada in senior positions related to resource management, conflict and change management, strategic planning, and leadership development. Spence holds a Ph.D. in public policy from Carleton University, a MA from Royal Roads University in conflict management and analysis, and a BA in political science from the University of British Columbia.Ralph Ranalli of the HKS Office of Communications and Public Affairs is the host, producer, and editor of HKS PolicyCast. Our guest today is Dr. Ken Forbus, the Walter P. Murphy Professor of Computer Science and a Professor of Education at Northwestern University. Joining Dr. Ken Ford to co-host today's interview is Dr. James Allen, who was IHMC's associate director until he retired a few years ago. James is a founding fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence and a perfect fit for today's discussion with Dr. Forbus, who, like James, is an AI pioneer.  Back in 2022, James was named a fellow by the Association for Computational Linguistics, an organization that studies computational language processing, another field he helped pioneer. Dr. Forbus also is a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and was the inaugural winner of the Herbet A. Simon Prize for Advances in Cognitive Systems. He is well-known for his development of the Structure Mapping Engine. In artificial intelligence and cognitive science, the Structure Mapping Engine is a computer simulation of analogy and similarity comparisons that helped pave the way for computers to reason more like humans. Show Notes: [00:03:07] Ken opens the interview with Dr. Forbus by asking if it is true that he had an unusual hobby for a nerdy kid growing up. [00:04:18] James mentions that Dr. Forbus' family moved often when he was younger and asks how that affected him. [00:05:18] Ken mentions that when Dr. Forbus was in high school, he filled his free time reading about psychology and cognition before eventually coming across some articles on AI. Ken asks Dr. Forbus to talk about this experience and what happened next. [00:07:49] James asks Dr. Forbus if he remembers the first computer he owned. [00:09:17] Ken asks Dr. Forbus if there was anything, other than its reputation, that led him to attend MIT. [00:10:09] James mentions that for the past few decades, Dr. Forbus has been working on developing “human like” AI systems. While much of AI research and development has been focused on meeting the standard of the Turing test, James asks Dr. Forbus why he is not a fan of the Turing test. [00:12:24] Ken mentions that Dr. Forbus received his Ph.D. from MIT in 1984, the same year that Apple released the first Macintosh, which was rolled out with a famous Super Bowl ad. This computer was the first successful mouse driven personal computer with a graphical interface. Ken asks Dr. Forbus what he remembers about that ad, and what his reaction to it was at the time. [00:13:22] James mentions that 1984 was also the year that Dr. Forbus made his first splash in the AI world with his paper on qualitative process theory. James goes on to explain that at the time, qualitative reasoning regarding quantities was a major problem for AI. In his paper, Dr. Forbus proposed qualitative process theory as a representational framework for common sense physical reasoning, arguing that understanding common sense physical reasoning first required understanding of processes and their effects and limits. James asks Dr. Forbus to give an overview of this paper and its significance. [00:18:10] Ken asks Dr. Forbus how it was that he ended up marrying one of his collaborators on the Structure Mapping Engine project, Dedre Gentner. [00:19:14] James explains that Dedre's Structure Mapping Theory explains how people understand and reason about relationships between different situations, which is central to human cognition. James asks Dr. Forbus how Dedre's theory was foundational for the Structure Mapping Engine (SME). [00:25:19] Ken mentions how SME has gone through a number of changes and improvements over the years, as documented in Dr. Forbus' 2016 paper “Extending SME to handle large scale cognitive modeling.” Ken asks, as a cognitive model, what evidence Dr. Forbus has used to argue for the psychological and cognitive plausibility of SME.
