It's always a treat when good Alfacast friend, Dr. Andrew Kaufman stops in for a visit.  "Andy" and the Alfacast crew first crossed paths just prior to the medical false flag of 2020, as we shared a common perspective. albeit 'unorthodox' by accepted standards, that medicine should be more engaged in treating the 'Bioterrain' rather than making war on alleged pathogens within the context of disease. Those tumultuous times left their scars on the more vulnerable amongst us, but many escaped unscathed with eyes wide open.  Many now question not only medicine, but the legal, governmental and financial systems in their conventional forms.  Andrew brings a deep understanding of the mechanisms shared by these seemingly diverse institutions, as well as the larger nexus behind their creation. Dr. Andy Kaufman is a self-proclaimed “recovering physician” who boldly transitioned from a prestigious career in mainstream medicine to become a prominent voice challenging conventional medical paradigms. Initially trained in the allopathic approach, Dr. Andy embarked on a transformative journey that led him to question conventional medical principles. Fueled by an insatiable curiosity for deeper truths, he has since become a dynamic educator and speaker, sharing his insights into medicine, the nature of viruses and the power of natural healing. Additionally he delves into the interconnected realms of economics, law, education and science, offering a wholistic perspective that challenges the status quo and inspires others to think critically about the world around them. With a Bachelor of Science in Biology from MIT, an MD from the University of South Carolina, and a psychiatric residency at Duke University, Dr. Andy has held academic leadership roles, contributed to research, and patented a medical device. Now, he dedicates himself to researching and delivering trustworthy products and protocols, empowering health-seekers to achieve optimal wellness. Follow Dr. Andy Kaufman on Medicamentum Authentica (YouTube, Instagram, Rumble) to gain knowledge and take charge of your health journey. Expect a lively roundtable discussion that could take us into a diversity of topics that will surely inspire and inform in this not-to-be-missed episode. What do a barracks for British troops in the Falklands War, a floating jail off the Bronx, and temporary housing for VW factory workers in Germany have in common? The Balder Scapa: a single barge that served all three roles. Though the name would eventually change to Finnboda 12. And then to Safe Esperia. And later on, to the Bibby Resolution. And after that . . . in short, a vessel with so many names, and so many fates, that to keep it in our sights—as the protagonist of this fascinating economic parable—Ian Kumekawa has no choice but to call it, simply, the Vessel.Despite its sturdy steel structure, weighing 9,500 deadweight tons, the Vessel is a figure as elusive and abstract as the offshore market it comes to embody: a world of island tax havens, exploited labor forces, free banking zones, Thatcherism, Reaganomics, and mass incarceration, where even the prisoners are held offshore. Fitted with modular shipping containers, themselves the product of standardized global trade, the ship could become whatever the market demanded. The technological landscape is transforming at breakneck speed, but what determines your success in this new world isn't your mastery of the latest AI tools - it's your AI-first mindset.  While everyone's focused on which AI applications to learn, we're neglecting something far more fundamental: the mental habits that will either propel us forward or anchor us in the past.  Your AI mindset, the questions you habitually ask, the stories you tell yourself, and the thoughts you cultivate, it shapes your preparedness for an AI-first future more than any technical skill. The key shift isn't learning to use AI faster; it's rethinking your relationship with these tools. Instead of outsourcing your thinking, the most powerful approach is using AI as a collaborator that amplifies your uniquely human capabilities.  Drawing from cutting-edge research, including MIT studies showing how passive AI use actually reduces brain activity, this episode provides a practical framework for effective AI collaboration. You'll discover how to preserve the creative, insightful aspects of your work while leveraging AI for refinement and enhancement.  Through real-world examples from writing, coaching, and content creation, you'll learn specific techniques for using AI to make your thinking sharper and your work better, not to replace your intellectual skills.  The most successful people in an AI-powered world won't be those who surrender their thinking to machines but those who become more intentional about how they think alongside their digital collaborators.  The future belongs to those who enhance their thinking with technology, not those who outsource it.    Text Me Your Thoughts and IdeasSupport the showBrought to you by Angela Shurina Behavior-First Change Leadership & Culture Transformation ConsultantEXECUTIVE & OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE COACH

2/8: The Spy Who Changed History: The Untold Story of How the Soviet Union Won the Race for America's Top Secrets by  Svetlana Lokhova (Author)   Format: Kindle Edition 1929 On a sunny September day in 1931, a Soviet spy walked down the gangplank of the luxury transatlantic liner SS Europa and into New York. Attracting no attention, Stanislav Shumovsky had completed his journey from Moscow to enrol at a top American university. He was concealed in a group of 65 Soviet students heading to prestigious academic institutions. But he was after far more than an excellent education. Recognising Russia was 100 years behind the encircling capitalist powers, Soviet leader Joseph Stalin had sent Shumovsky on a mission to acquire America's vital secrets to help close the USSR's yawning technology gap. The road to victory began in the classrooms and laboratories of MIT – Shumovsky's destination soon became the unwitting finishing school for elite Russian spies. The USSR first transformed itself into a military powerhouse able to confront and defeat Nazi Germany. Then in an extraordinary feat that astonished the West, in 1947 American ingenuity and innovation exfiltrated by Shumovsky made it possible to build and unveil the most advanced strategic bomber in the world. Following his lead, other MIT-trained Soviet spies helped acquire the secrets of the Manhattan Project. By 1949, Stalin's fleet of TU-4s, now equipped with atomic bombs could devastate the US on his command. Appropriately codenamed BLÉRIOT, Shumovsky was an aviation spy. Shumovsky's espionage was so successful that the USSR acquired every US aviation secret from his network of agents in factories and at top secret military research institutes. In this thrilling history, Svetlana Lokhova takes the reader on a journey through Stalin's most audacious intelligence operation. She pieces together every aspect of Shumovsky's life and character using information derived from American and Russian archives, exposing how even Shirley Temple and Franklin D. Roosevelt unwittingly advanced his schemes

Today's defense landscape is chaotic and fast-moving. Drones, AI, autonomy, and cyber threats are reshaping how wars are fought…and how the Pentagon spends.  For companies and CEOs, the barrier to entry has never been lower. Any startup with a pitch deck and some funding can say they're in “defense.” But actually succeeding in this market? That's never been harder. Small businesses get lost in red tape, big businesses lose their edge chasing shiny objects. Most companies looking to break into the defense space still pitch like it's 2005, leading with tech specs, chasing every shiny RFP, and assuming that great engineering sells itself. It doesn't…not in today's environment. So what's the right strategy in this market? How do companies set themselves up to win?  In this episode, I sit down with Gemo Yesil, founder and managing partner of Bastion Atlas, to unpack why so many well-funded startups, savvy CEOs, and legacy contractors are falling flat, and what it really takes to win in today's high-stakes, high-complexity market. Gemo knows the DoD world inside and out. An MIT-trained aerospace engineer, Air Force veteran, and founder of a fast-scaling fractional BD firm, he's seen firsthand how companies of all sizes struggle with the same fundamental issue: a lack of clear, executable strategy. Gemo explains how defense acquisition has evolved from lumbering legacy programs to fast-moving, software-driven warfare. He shares why the real differentiator today isn't tech specs or connections, it's clarity: about your market, your business model, and what “good” defense revenue actually looks like. You'll also learn: The biggest misconceptions companies have when trying to sell to the DoD Why most “strategies” aren't really strategies and how to create one that's tangible and repeatable What it actually means to define “good business” in the defense sector The risks of chasing large contracts that don't align with your long-term goals How Bastion Atlas approaches fractional business development and execution Why understanding the DoD's operational context is key to communicating product value The growing shift toward treating AI and software as major weapon systems Why traditional consulting is fading and how fractional BD is becoming the new model How to win with process, patience, and a long-term perspective   Guest Bio Gemo Yesil is a combat veteran, aerospace engineer and founder and principal at Bastion Atlas. He is a Global Defense Business Development executive with 20 years of experience, and a dual-rated U.S. Air Force pilot, who has flown Combat Rescue helicopters and Tactical Airlift jets in Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, and South America. After managing Fortune 500 engineering teams on multiple $2B+ programs at Sikorsky/Lockheed Martin and scaling his EdTech startup nationally, Gemo has served as CMC Electronics' Global Sales & Strategy Director, Gecko Robotics' Head of Defense Business Development, and HABCO Industries' VP of Sales & Marketing. He launched Bastion Atlas in 2024 to assemble a team of revenue growth experts and scale their impact across the global Aerospace & Defense industry. Gemo remains proudly connected to his alma mater (MIT), retains an active security clearance, and — as a personal passion — continues to manage national STEM Education initiatives. Szombaton Budapest Pride, vagyis most éppen a Budapest Büszkeség menete. 00:17:00 - Offtopic: a szavaknak nincs neme, mindenki használhat bármilyen szót. 00:17:10 - Coca-Cola kampány, amit pár éve visszavontak a visszhang miatt. Jogi kisokos a Helsinkitől. Mit tegyél, ha igazoltatnak? Olvasnivalók: Ádám remek cikke a pinkwashing hiányáról. A Szikra felkérdezte a máskor szivárványba öltöző nagyvállalatokat. Miért volt dühös a jobboldal a Coca-Cola reklámjaira? A ferencvárosi pad esete. James Fanell Gordon Chang THIRD HOUR 11:00-11:15 1/8: The Spy Who Changed History: The Untold Story of How the Soviet Union Won the Race for America's Top Secrets by Svetlana Lokhova (Author) Format: Kindle Edition On a sunny September day in 1931, a Soviet spy walked down the gangplank of the luxury transatlantic liner SS Europa and into New York. Attracting no attention, Stanislav Shumovsky had completed his journey from Moscow to enroll at a top American university. He was concealed in a group of 65 Soviet students heading to prestigious academic institutions. But he was after far more than an excellent education. Recognizing Russia was 100 years behind the encircling capitalist powers, Soviet leader Joseph Stalin had sent Shumovsky on a mission to acquire America's vital secrets to help close the USSR's yawning technology gap. Roosevelt unwittingly advanced his schemes. 11:15-11:30 2/8: The Spy Who Changed History: The Untold Story of How the Soviet Union Won the Race for America's Top Secrets by Svetlana Lokhova (Author) Format: Kindle Edition 11:30-11:45 3/8: The Spy Who Changed History: The Untold Story of How the Soviet Union Won the Race for America's Top Secrets by Svetlana Lokhova (Author) Format: Kindle Edition 11:45-12:00 4/8: The Spy Who Changed History: The Untold Story of How the Soviet Union Won the Race for America's Top Secrets by Svetlana Lokhova (Author) Format: Kindle Edition FOURTH HOUR 12:00-12:15 France: Heat wave and country lanes. This episode is a little different from what we usually cover on New Frontiers, but it's one I couldn't wait to bring to you. I've been thinking a lot about how we—as clinicians—are supposed to keep up in this era of high-throughput technology. We're swimming in data: labs, multi-omics, diet logs… and an ever-growing stream from wearables. There's just so much coming at us, and too often, we're awash in a sea of information without adequate interpretive power. That's why this conversation with Dr. Rana el Kaliouby felt so important. She's not just an AI scientist—she's a visionary and a total badass. She's building technology that doesn't just process data, but actually helps us become better clinicians and better humans. We get into the ethics, the potential, the parenting implications—and yes, a personal story about a tragedy in my own hometown that made this all hit very close to home. This one's powerful, and I hope it sparks the same questions and inspiration for you as it did for me. ~DrKF TRIGGER WARNING This episode touches on sensitive topics, including gun violence and suicide, in the context of empathy, mental health, and technology.
