Dipl.-Biol. Dr. rer. medic., M.Sc., Ph.D. Mark Benecke ist einer der bekanntesten und besten Kriminalbiologen der Welt. Nach seiner Promotion an der Uni Köln im Institut für Rechtsmedizin absolvierte er diverse fachspezifische Ausbildungen auf der ganzen Welt, wie zum Beispiel beim FBI. Als Deutschlands einziger öffentlich bestellter und vereidigter Sachverständiger für biologische Spuren untersuchte er unter anderem Adolf Hitlers Schädel. Wie spricht man mit Serienmördern? Mark Benecke hat hier einen ganz eigenen Ansatz. Er hört ihnen zu, vermeidet es, sie vorzuverurteilen und möchte sie auch nicht manipulieren. Er setzte sich mit Serienmördern, wie Luis Alfredo Garavito Cubillos, an einen Tisch. Er spricht "normal" mit ihm, um zu verstehen, wie es dazu kam, dass er wohl 250 Kinder getötet hatte. Eine weitere Hauptbeschäftigung von Mark ist die Auseinandersetzung mit dem klinischen Vampirismus. Zudem lebt er schon lange #vegan und setzt sich für #klimaschutz ein - so hat er seine Vortragsreihe 'Time is up' gestartet. Er spricht darüber, warum es 5nach12 ist und was den größten Impact auf den Klimawandel hat. Mark setzt sich intensiv für die Rechte der Tiere ein, er sprach bei der Ringvorlesung der Uni Witten-Herdecke zum Thema “Mensch-Tier-Beziehung”, macht viel Aufklärungsarbeit rund um Zoos. Er ist regelmäßig dort, um zu dokumentieren, wie andere Segler mit den Orcas umgehen. Spoiler: Nicht gut. Einige sehen die Orcas als große Jagdtrophäe oder werfen starke Firecrackers auf sie. Auch Harpunen kamen bereits zum Einsatz. Damit es nicht mehr dazu kommt, betreibt das Team hinter Lasse´s Organisation Orca Portugal Aufklärungsarbeit, um den Menschen die Angst vor den Walen zu nehmen. Aber auch auf Social Media klären sie auf und zeigen es, wenn Orcas aus Booten heraus angegriffen werden. Das passt nicht jedem und so kommt es regelmäßig zu Drohungen gegen Lasse und sein Team. Davon lassen sie sich nicht unterkriegen! Hope Blooms engages with inner-city youth to become change agents, positively impacting the community through innovative agricultural and culinary programs. These changemakers made a national impact a decade ago on the show Dragon's Den, where 6 young and enthusiastic youth pitched their salad dressing business and made a deal for $40,000. They even moved one of the dragons to tears. It was a vision that started with a seed, and has since bloomed into a movement on a mission to create future leaders. It's all about growth. From the garden where the program took root, to salsa, salad dressings and scholarships. Hope Blooms has become what it is today because of the hard work, commitment and compassion of Executive Director, Jessie Jollymore.
